Noob question thread! 2020_Summer

can i take the daly out if its case and protect with some fishpaper
that should make it just small enough for my needs

I’ve never seen it done. The case acts as a heatsink as well, so you would likely be crippling the capability of it if you did

doesnt need high charge current
prob under 6 amps

If i’m not mistaken, the highest rated charge current of the smallest dalys is 8a. Without a heatsink, you’d likely be looking at half that, if not less.

If you must do this, i’d be conducting some proper testing to make sure that it will cope.

they officially claim 12amps as max

example?

Do a full charge cycle in an enclosed space with a thermistor attached to the fets.

If the fets stay within their safe operating temperature, then i’d say you’re good to go.

cheers will give it a go

do you know where i can find operating temperature?

Look up a spec sheet for the fets on the charge circuit inside the bms.

I’ve heard that if you send @Battery_Mooch photos of your nude feet, he may help you source said spec sheets.

Hopefully you don’t have ugly feet.

Pretty sure you could fit a daly in an Altoids tin, in a pinch.

No, these suck completely. Ask me how I know. 🤦🏻

I actually checked and it 150% does, with a LOT of room to spare for some insulation. Not a bad solution, honestly. Truck liner the tin so it doesn’t look out of place.

I’ve eaten road because of them, what happened to you?

Holy shit bro a xenith almost fits in an Altoids tin. Imma try and find a slightly larger esc enclosure tomorrow. At the candy store. For a couple dollars.

Gotta protect that $250 ESC in a $0.25 case
