My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

Well played

When I was still in Uni I’m pretty sure I shaved at least half of the commute time down as it would be for someone going by car and parking in the most expensive garage on campus. Except for on days with 50mph gusts. Those probably took the same amount of time. The rest of the parking lots are too far away from the main campus to be able to estimate the time saving though.

Also USPS decided to go all out and my raked truck arrived two days early. Even came with a baseplate and bushings despite being so cheap to begin with. Your thread is the only reason I knew it existed

They are nice looking parts aren’t they

I really like that they made it super clear which side is the normal side and which side is the reverse raked option. Also they came with a nice bright red bushing that matches the rest of my build. with my surf adapter the bushing durometer on the front truck isn’t as important so long as I tighten or loosen the truck as needed

Although those labels will 100% be a pain in the ass in the future when I eventually strip and repaint them

Dude. I do this on my phone and I am old and it’s really hard for me to read the tiny letters.
But I do hope you enjoy the trucks.
I need to get the Llama back together and I think after that I’ll get on the Rally Cat.

Yey.
The Daffodils are here.
That’s always a good sign!!!

I got out a little bit today which was nice.
A bit of a warm up in front of the house with the GT.

And then a 15 miles cruise on the Flux…

I rolled around Campus a bunch.

Kinda hit my OG route of back in the day when I only had 10 miles of range.

Dang.
Unplanned bonus ride.

Benji stopped by and we went for a cruise.
It was awesome.

A cool 12 miles on the Gravel Boi!!!

Been slacking on the tinkering.

The Llama has been sitting in parts staring at me…

So let’s see if we can do some soldering.

I keep going back and forth on mr60 vs bullets.

And I think I’m going to try mr60 first.

Rafael, I just wanted to let you know how much your build log has influenced my builds and journey in this hobby/addiction with esk8. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from your various builds enjoy following your updates. Hope we can skate together in the future!

Winter showed back up…
Cold as hell today.

11 f or -8C for better perspective…
There will be no riding…
Maybe I can get some stuff done in the garage.

It even snowed last night.
But at 11:30 last night it was “only down to 32” and snowing slightly.
So I went out and did 4.5 miles on the GT.

Such an interesting sensory experience these cold wet rides for fun!!!

Breakfast of champions…

Let’s see if I can get the Llama buttonned up.

I messed with it some yesterday.
And sometimes I really struggle with soldering.
I had wanted tried the MR60s on the Xenith side and quickly gave up to go to bullets.

Even the bullets are bumming me out.

I need to resolder some today…

I am most excited about the extra work I created when I accidentally cut this sensor wire when I was taking the cable sheath off the other day.
Being impatient and not paying attention is muy bueno kids…

Ok.
Moment of truth.
What is this detection going to look like?!?

Sweet baby Jesus!!!
It’s coming up good!!!

Here is hoping that putting the cables sheath back on and putting it all back doesn’t screw it up somehow…

Cable clean up time…

Ahh.
The many baby steps.

Cable sheath.

I needed to grind the abs to make the opening a tiny bit bigger. I did not get a good after shot …

Then 2 layers of heat shrink for the bullets…

And then trying to keep the phase wires in place.

It’s tricky to do like this with the ESC on the enclosure and the enclosure upside down… Yada yada.

And finally bolting it back down and rejoicing in seeing this and having it come up sensored…

I try not to let this happen…
But more often than not, the bench explodes with crap…

So I need to get my bench cleaned up…and take the MAD wheels off the Demonseed and get them on here.

Hooray.

Ok.
Let’s do a bit of tinkering…

Okey dokey.
Moving slowly…
But that is ok.
No hurry for anything today.

First order was to swap wheels on the Demonseed.

And so far I have one done.

I decided to clean up the edges of the BN pulleys.

Then I decided to add bearing spacers…
You know. Since 10mm zealous don’t exist.
And off course the ones I had were too wide.
So knocking a mm or so out…

So yep
That is my progress today.

I might actually take a break and go ride a little bit…

Going out to ride was a good idea.

It’s bright and sunny and the feel like got up to 43f.

So it felt totally fine.

I wanted to take the Flux out but it was at 45 volts.
So I grabbed the Gravel Boi and ended up doing a 15 miler.

Here is the obligatory bridge pic.

And this is cool but I found a Gravel Access road right next to Campus that I had never seen before and that was really fun to roll up and down.
