My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

I am on a fucking roll…

I take the Rayne Crush out of the basement…

I had not ridden it in a long time. Kind of a shame really…

Go up the block and suddenly feel a major bog down…

Fucking look at this…
Insane.

I mean seriously.
From basement up the block onto the bench.

Not even going to look at another board today…
Obviously not my day.

I’m guessing shit is from the the mount hitting the driveway ramp as I pull out of the house…

I have no excuse for the loose bolt…

New theory.
Not the ramp at the end of the driveway into the street.
Well maybe that.

But I have in the past hit it on this step going out of the garage door…

That might be a better culprit…

Oh I fucking HATE when the belt jumps like that. If you pick up a stick from the ground you can run the stick in there and it will pop back on. I only figured that out after cutting a couple off on the side of the road and limping home on one motor.

@3DServisas Maybe that shoulder could be a tad taller, I think I suggested that last time I had a belt pop like that.

Big motors and no crossbars to cancel the momentum ?

that is how I roll mostly.
i guess two of my boards with IdeaTB mounts have cross members, but most others don’t

I forgot to tell you I have a spare pair of 1/2 inch hard risers if you need them.

thanks, I appreciate the offer.
I actually have a couple sets laying around… one from when I got my first diy kit from diyeboards… the good old days.

I like using the soft ones now…

these are my go to.

More on the Demonseed motor.

The battle hardening appears to have helped.

At least at first sign on the bench.

Motor now spins fine - before it was sticking. Not sure on what.

And it sounded crazy…

One of my theories is a magnet was unglued and was hitting the stator when it was in…
Is that something that happens?
I could not move or pull any of the magnets…

Anyways.

A dap of milliput and it sounds fine…

Nice! What was the battery at when you got home?

It was gone dude…
At 38.9 volts…

I had to ride mellow type vibes the last few miles.

I can’t believe I wish I had a bigger battery…
But I wish I had a bigger battery…

Surprisingly my legs where not horrible…
Just a bit sore on the front knee…

I think if I take more breaks and stretch more my body could do a longer ride!

The great freshies extravaganza of 2021!!!

So the city has been laying down some incredible black tops.

I have been running into them on the Flux which is great but doesn’t do them Justice.

The Demonseed is all back together and I got out there today for a 20 miler…

Chasing freshies!!!

So glorious!!!

Some of these felt so glassy on the 110s all I could feel was the vibration of the motors…

Ok.
Ok.
Ok. Ok

The Dinghy is really done now.

Recap.
10s2p 40t(Meepo ER pack)
Focbox
Flipsky smart switch.
Flipsky 6354 190kV
BN 145s
Bn 40tooth pulleys
Bkb mount.
14/40 on 80mm kegels.

The addition of the 3d printed enclosure from my homie at work really buttoned it up nicely.

Switched from the BN mount to the old style bkb mount .

Saves a smidge of belly room.
Using the wrong size of the mount for reasons… ( Not enough sets)

Tight little package.

It’s like fucking wackamole…

One is back.One goes down.

Is it like this for everyone?

Does your shit constantly break in totally random ways?!?

I took the Omakase out to push the baby up the street.

Felt a little glitch with the remote a block away…
So I decided to run detection to see what is up…

And something is up.
So I need to I open it up.

Failed detection because could not find sensors… Ran detection and found one sensorless… Then found both sensored, but one motor would not spin…

So I need to o check my connections.

On the positive side the Rally Cat was charged.
So I took it out for a 15 miler to chase freshies.

And again. These new blacktops are so magical.
Felt incredible on Caguamas.

Yes, operating a large fleet of all custom-engineered one-off electric vehicles has treated me the same way. Just as soon as you get one working super reliably, some other one goes down unexpectedly in some totally stupid and off-the-wall random way.

You didn’t recently update the FW in that board did you?

I did run the firmware update yesterday before trying to run detection.
I think I was on 5.01 and had the undiagnosed “glitch”
And put in 5.02

This is the 3rd account I’ve heard of 5.02 mysteriously not picking up sensors, myself being one of them. It was discussed a bit in a telegram chat but i haven’t seen it discussed here much. I’m suspicious of 5.02 sensor detection :eyes:
