My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

It’s so short i had to give it a little stretch. Moved the mounting holes an inch forward for better clearance and foot position and slid the rear almost 3/4” back. I like the snubby ness and the carver trucks are really nice on it

Oh man. It’s a surfboard set up? Got pics of the bottom handy?

Also how come you use bolts that stick out?

So fucking sweet…

As previously noted. Want all your boards… fucking sweet.

I like to feel where they are for foot placement, had counter sunk and swapped back

Once upon a time in the 80s we mounted our bolts upside down for our feet to catch when doing Ollie’s…

Really fucked shoes up.

That was probably dumber than the tiny wheels of the early 90s…

I went to harbour freight today and found this beauty.

It’s pretty much what I was dreaming of …

A mega Dremel…

The thing is much powerful.

I carved it up and then carved it up some more…

Then when I thought I was good I went to go try it.

I feel like I have gotten to a good place.

Going on an actual ride here soon.

But cruising up the block was good.

Neat rotary rasp. I need one.

I recommend using a router speed controller to tame down an angle grinder when using Flap sanders or similar.

I have a red bodied version of this one, which allows me to slow down to sub 200 rpm.

I also have this one but it does not slow it down as low as the red one. I use it more on my belt sander than my angle grinder.

Just noticed this version too, that has an output voltmeter.

If I needed a third controller I’d definitely try this one.

The RSC’s are also great for taming Shop vacuums, when one does not need the incredible suction or does not want to listen to it scream.

Highly recommend having one of these.

Seriously looks so useful!

On another note, glad you rolled away from that one.

You noticing a difference with those new hangars? Getting any rubbing at all now that you have the deck ground down?

This is cool. I totally wished the grinder wasn’t screaming so much today…

I am not sure how much of a difference I notice in the ride from before…

It turns tighter in front of the house.

It’s a little bit easier to throw around.

But I just went and did a 14 miles ride. It was delightful.

I think it would have been just as delightful with the previous set up with the 220s.

Sure it’s different. But if I had to go back and think of the trouble I don’t think it’s worth it.

I’m happy with how it rides.

I’m happy with how it looks.

I expect I will keep it this way.

But the rear clearance makes this more trouble than it’s worth it…

I don’t mind the board hitting the trucks. I have plenty of lean.

I am worried about the face wire still… I think I need to pull them out of the enclosure a little bit more. Such a pain in the ass.

The 14 miles mayden voyage on the 180s was great.

Trucks are loose loose. But I didn’t have any scary moments.

Always wondered if there would be that much of a difference between the two… Glad I asked!

Yey.

Saturday morning ride.

The board of choice today was the Gravel Flux. Which needed to borrow the battery back from the RAD LAC.

I need more batteries in my life.

I headed out towards the gravel trails.

It’s quite literally a perfect day 70 and sunny.

There’s a dude sitting on the bench next to the trail with his little kid and he also had a Onewheel GTS and a Stacic bike.

So hopefully we can become friends!!!

This is a steep windy trail access and it’s fun and hard to do…

Yesterday i spent some time on some of my favorite trails…

But we were doing the caveman.

One foot in front of the other…

Later in the day one of my son’s friend’s Dad came over to try electric skateboards.

He had never skateboarded…

I figured I put them on a giant stable platform.

The 44 worked well for him to get started.

After he went up and down the block a few times I made him follow me up to the school

It’s a good mile and a half loop, and he did ok.

Monday Monday…

I had to drive my father in law home from his appointment.

This could be a pain in the ass, but on nice sunny days it’s awesome.

I ride to his Doctors. Drive his car home. And ride home. (Which I meandered and made 14 miles)

The 44 was the board of choice because I think it’s good for long distances and some of the spots where I would go fast.

It’s definitely a board I consider when thinking of getting from A to B. Provided it’s a dry day…

Later on the day it was not dry… we had a crazy hail storm… More ice fell from the sky than I had ever seen…
