This is another moment to me that shows the magic of electric skateboards…
I can really enjoy myself riding this super basic low-powered tiny little setup that’s just a 12S1P with a single tiny motor. But with the power of Vesc and some motor amps it totally moves me…
Kinda barely.
But doesn’t matter.
It’s so much fun!!!
Now that these boards are getting so cheap and accessible I wish more people would get into them…
I was riding home from the grocery store the other day and I saw a dude pushing an old longboard at the park on a nice path. But he was kind of struggling.
And I got to thinking, for just 300 some bucks this dude could be on an electric longboard gleaming the cube like Marty McFly…
So I feel like it’s been a long time since we’ve been to the skatepark…
Enclosure on the Park Board has been broken awhile.
I fixed it so I could ride at the skatepark.
I did pretty well at the skatepark after not having been there for such a long time.
I did 50/50s on the quarter pipe.
And I didb50/50 slappies on the steps.
A new trick for me I did front side 50/50 slappies on the lower step!!!
It’s weird out front side is totally horrifying to me now…
Then we jumped in the van and drove over to the pump track.
The neighbor kid was there with his Evolved Zealot, which he has been riding quite a bit. So cool
I rode through the pump track a bit with the park board.
I tried to ride my analog board a little bit but it felt really off to me…
I even took the park board on the mini skills park…
All terrain baby!!!
You know now that you mention it, I HAVE been wondering why all his videos have fine print saying “professional actors on a closed course, do not attempt”
My first esk8 friend, we went on a few rides and it was awesome. We would go to this cool maker space and work on boards and ride around downtown. Then one day he was like an hour late meeting up and not responding until I finally got a text that said “hospital”. Dude broke his shoulder and collarbone and I think part of his arm too hitting a hubcap cover on his way over.
Second one was my neighbor and he bought a board and immediately found out they were pregnant with kid #3 and his free time went to -5. He traded his board for an ebike this summer
it’s weird how I can be ok at it, then terrible on the next try.
way back in the day I used to push skate to work. (3 mi) there was a while there were I challenged myself to push switch all the way to work. i eventually did it once.
I also have run switch on track, and got good enough that i tried it in a group ride… and… i made two turns, and freaked out. I wasn’t so controlled I couldn’t handle the dynamics of tons of people running every which way. easier to just make specific turns.
