Those Newbee drives look really nice and seem to have a low profile. Have you had any issues with helical gears or breaking the POM gears? That’s what has kept me away from them, used to always have to bring a spare POM gear in my pack back in the Trampa gear drive days.

I have broken a lot of stuff in my days.
I have ran 5 sets of Newbee 4GS.
Never broken one.
I retired the 33/11. And retired one 55/11 I couldn’t get to stop clicking…
The other ones are solid.
I probably don’t hit the super hard terrain you do though…

The Red Ember 44
I was today years old when I finally got a Red Ember deck!!!
It is weird I deprived myself for so long…
It’s almost like I have felt I was not good enough for something so nice…
But regardless of my past mistakes, here we are.
It’s so much more impressive in person than I could have imagined.

Onewheels are great for camping
This weekend we went tent camping!!!
It’s not a super common thing for us and I think it had been a couple years.
The magic van got packed with PEVs.
We took the Portola, the Fiido, Max’s new Hoverboard and the Onewheels.
Now that everyone has their own PEV and wants to bring it, I can’t bring quite as many toys…
We stayed at a campground at a state park in the campsite was right next to the lake.
I could ride the one wheel down a little trail to get down to the lake.
Staying a campground is interesting.
I kind of struggle with how many people there are around.
But it is nice to be near amenities such as a shower and water.
We actually stayed a second night.

I also wanted to redo the motor connections(I was self conscious about previous ones)
And redo the cable sheath.

Next up I had to face the fact I was going to have drill the deck…
Much more ennerving than usual…
I just lined up the enclosure. And started making marking holes…
I did okay on most of them… But three are not perfect… That’s why I can’t have nice things…
We are ok though.
Next up we are best friends with Butyl tape again and we are almost there…
I almost made the cables too short when I cut off the last connectors… Yikes…
So there it is.
My very own 44 was ready to roll down the road!!!
It’s a great standing platform for me.
The foot pockets are great.
It’s quite a wide stance which I like.
The w concave is really pronounced, so we will have to see how I do with that. It’s definitely different than any previous set ups.
I want to be like Jamie and ride it with no grip tape… But I don’t think that is going to fly… I will try for now.
Finally the enclosure is very low to ground and is scraping. Yey. I achieved much lower!!!
So I get so try 8 inch tires here shortly…

Definitely feels like it would be wrong to put a top mount on here…
