It’s amazing what happens when you use trucks and a deck that are meant to actually go together…
Such a notable height difference…

Ok. I found a cozy spot on the shelf for the 3 links.
I also found out I can’t run the MBS wheels on the Demonseed without moving the Mounts in.
I can’t move the mounts in because of the motors.
So I am back to the Meepo hubs that were on here before.
Both are nice wheels. I was just feeling the look of the MBS ones more .
All good.
Daniel came through with my other sticky foot pad.
Looking killer!!!
The EUC kids came over too and I got a hand me down upgraded light for the Patton!!!
The Death of a Onewheel
Perfect sunny day.
My 2 onewheel buddies were coming over for us to go for a ride after work.
I also invited the 2 EUC kids and they came over…
(No esk8 buddies to invite…)
We lolly gagged and chatted in the garage for a while.
As we are getting really close to leaving Luca is doing little circles around on the driveway.
He got to close to the car and tipped the onewheel in a way it got wedged under the car.
Nose down, and engaged it was just spinning out…
Luca tried to move it and thanks goodness my buddy Daniel pulled him away!!!
After that it would not power on…
I’m sure the little foccer got fried.
There goes the neighborhood!!!
Luca cried it out about the Onewheel for a good bit …
But we were able to get him to cheer up and come out with us on his Bike.
We did 7.5 miles.
Went on campus and to the little Mountain bike jumps kind of between campus and my house.
It’s so cool going on group rides.
It’s so stinking cool Luca came and can keep up!!!
Shuffling Longboards
This morning I distracted my mind on the bench by working on both the Demonseed and the ION Drive V1.
The Meepo hubs are nice to work with.
The Idea mounts are nice to work with
Trying to apply a little bit of heat to get the cable to stay in place while not destroying the cable sheath.
I wasn’t expecting this but the Meepo wheels offset the tires a little bit more than the MBS XL ones.
It all came together nicely.
I suppose we’re just getting back to where we were here.
Only difference from before is loser bushings.
Onto the Demonseed
Nothing much… Just a wheel swap…
Not quite the absolute opposite ends of the spectrum for thane … But close.
The fact of the matter is at the 85 mm Caguamas felt really good on here and I like the board being low.
I actually liked it better with the 76 mm Akashas because they somehow feel more comfortable and have supreme grip. But too low for the mounts.
So I had the MAD 125s temporarily on the shelf and thought I could be cool like @AlexB and slap them on the V1.
I was not able to use the pulleys that came with the MADs.
Not enough axle space for the Boardnamics trucks (fyi @fujio001 )
So I pulled a pulley shuffle and got Boardnamics pulleys on.
Alex was definitely onto something because this looks really extra cool…
I suppose every set up I have put the MAD Max on looked extra cool.
They are just so massive!!! And they transform the look of the board.
So after all that, I achieved what I wanted.
Which was to differentiate between these two boards more.
It’s also nice to have a smaller pneumatic set up I can move around a store with.
I really love the aesthetic of the V1 with the MAD Max wheels… it’s so good
I totally agree! These are really the wheels that the V1 should have come with.
Lunch break rides…
I had to go to the grocery store and took the EUC.
It was a nice 4…5 mile run.
Then I had to run downtown and took the Demonseed.
8.5 miles.
No flats.
Board felt great!!!
Very cushy at 20 PSI.
Very enjoyable with the extra loose trucks.
Man i really enjoyed that trail to town. We were ripping!
It’s such a a Jewel. I’m so lucky they put that in.
School pickup yesterday happened in two stages.
First I went to pick up the boys.
In the trailer was Lucas board (since the onewheel is dead)
And MAx’s new Hoverboard.
I have been trying to figure out something for Max to ride. But he only really likes his hoverboard.
So I got a bigger hoverboard.
I recently got the Swagtron T6 used from eBay.
It’s supposed to be the most capable hoverboard out there…
Still so slow compared to anything else.
But Max enjoys riding it home and that is what we wanted!!!
I had to go back for Naia.
I took her tiny bike and put the Nicky on my backpack for me to ride back.
Luca wanted to come along since he is all about riding…
Now what happens next is pretty funny to me…
We get to the school.
I set the Nicky on the ground.
And 20 feet later I hear metal scrapping the ground…
The other day when I change the motor pulley, I forgot to put the nut back on the truck.
So as soon as I start riding My back will rolled off.
I decided to try and ride home with no nut…
On the half mile home the wheel only came off twice…
Definitely a proud moment…
Last night we went out on a before bedtime ride…
We just rolled up the block to the last area in the neighborhood with real pavement.
The little dude is really grooving on his electric skateboard!!
I really respect the effort you put into including your kids in fun and active transportation
Well…
I just want to ride.
And I sometimes have to parent.
So it’s cool when things line up.
The Vesc Hole
Today I got the day started by jumping into the Vesc hole.
I am eager to get Luca’s Onewheel back running since he is so into it.
And I was so fortunate to have the Ubox sitting around.
I had to solder new connectors, and repin the ADC connection.
But besides that it went in place really easily.
Then I start fucking up…
I try to connect to the Bluetooth via my phone.
It cannot read the firmware.
So I break out the PC and connect it to the Vesc tool.
I immediately proceed to do hasty shit and fuck shit up…
I believe most likely I could not Read the firmware because the Vesc tool on my phone was 6.2… maybe not sure…
But without researching anything or trying anything else the first thing I decide to do is just free flash firmware from the PC.
Because I’m basic and now I do is use Unitys and that’s what you do… And it fixes everything.
Well not with the Ubox.
The first time I flash firmware it made the momentary switch stopped working.
I figured out that by holding the switch down I could actually keep the vast powered and connected to the PC again.
So then I go dig around the Spitend website for whatever fucking custom firmware they must have…
And I think I find it.
And I think I flash it.
And I fucking brick the thing…
Good news is now the fucking switch worked.
It will turn it on but not turn it off.
And it was yellow not green like when it came.
But I had no communication either with Bluetooth or the USB port.
The Vesc Hole
I was really perturbed and bummed by running into a wall this morning.
It really brought me down…
Not only was I not going to get the kids board running.
I had to spend $300 on a controller.
And the worst part is wait…
Fuuuuuuck.
I was so bummed.
There was help
So luckily my Onewheel buddy Daniel is really good with all this stuff, he tells you just to bring the board to his house and try to mess with it.
At least I wasn’t going to look at it anymore.
So I drove over there and dropped the board off.
I went back home and he message me thinking you could probably figure it out but his programmer wasn’t going to work he ordered one.
I asked If he meant an ST link. Because I actually have one…
So I rode to his house, and dropped it off.
And low and behold Daniel brings it back to life.
Green switch it is.
He’s also installing pull-down resistors for the ADC connection because we couldn’t feel confident whether they had actually updated that you box or not to include them.
Then he’s going to put the board together for me and tune it!!!
So fucking cool.
DYI is a Disease
So I rode the Box Turtle over to Daniel’s house.
It’s a really enjoyable ride on a nice paved trail.
And the Box Turtle is fun to ride.
The deck concave has really nice foot pockets that give me good control to snap the board around really easily with the Dualitys.
But there seems to always be trouble in paradise.
Because after not too long… I started hitting motor temps of 88C…
I suspect @Evwan sold me a lemon drive… But he says they ran cool for him, and I have been known to fuck shit up here and there…
So I want to trouble shoot the set up some before going back to belts…
It’s a 12S8P on a Unity. 5/1 Newbees.
190kv Flipsky. 175 tires.
It’s almost the same I have on the Flux but there I have 200mm tires.
I am running Field Weakening on here, and I wonder if that could be the culprit.
As I expect I’m cruising close to 30…
I am going to open and regrease the drives…
And adjust the temperature rate something something on Vesc.
Take out field weakening and see …
Esk8 is awesome
And I’m so lucky to get to ride all of these things…
What a rollercoaster today was…
But before Dark Luca and I took off to go ride.
He is on his little esk8 and I took the Nicky to match his vibe…
So freaking cool.
We hit the nice pavement road, and then rolled on the sidewalk to the school.
Then we skated around the parking lot.
He tried to go down the curb and I tried to grind the curb!!!
It was such a good time.
A magical evening to end the day brought by two little single drive boards.
Meh just let the motors be hot. They’ll be fine. I’ve been cooking mine for like 3 years now and see temps over that. Same battery and gearing but bigger wheels. I’ve never seen them act funny on me after a long ride.
