My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

Speaking of getting hyped.

A few weeks ago we had the most epic family ride!!!

Just a few miles to the park here near the house.

But look. All 5 of us, and no trailer.

I really need to write about the Death Scooter my daughter is riding!!!

I can’t wait for the day Karl tells me he is ordering a board.

He talked a little bit about putting one together.

And I would even sell him one of mine, once he decides what he wants.

But I really want to see him commit… Before he gets hurt and scared…

He has not fallen yet. And I can’t convince him to go full RoboCop yet…
So sketchy.

After riding around town we grabbed thane boards and rode the little section of my neighborhood that still has blacktop.

It is so cool sharing the simple joy or esk8 with someone, and to be rolling around a parking lot with a homie at midnight.

can confirm, the cheese was extra large last night

any follow up on that lady that told you to get off the trail? hopefully you’re still able to ride there

It’s basically a non issue for me.

It’s still the wild wild west here.

She had mentioned they were putting up new signage about the electric scooters on the trails and I have not seen it.

I basically don’t even think about it anymore.

Gonna keep riding.

My worry has moved on to how I will be able to ride the new pump track once they finish it…

I was just writing before from a spot I am probably not technically supposed to be at…

But again.
Going to keep on keeping on.

This morning’s warm up was on the Patton.

I like to stop on the middle of the bridge to stretch and look around.

Say hi to the Gars…

And roll through the slightest bit of woods just to get that vibe.

The warm up was 2.4 miles and a little under half an hour.

How’s your neck feeling these days?

The neck is pretty decent dude.

These days I am feeling my hips, knees and lower back more than the neck…

I do feel some pain on my neck after longer rides like the 15 miles last night.

There is nothing I want more than to get in good shape, however doing the actual exercise to get there seems impossible to me.

And not eating whatever I want is super hard…

And not drinking beer is super hard…

I really just want to feel like a younger person without the hard work of an actually clean life…

It was a good Friday night!!!

It has been a little tricky getting out to the skatepark now that it’s hot.

Can’t really just go there at 5 or 6…

And as it gets later in the evening the steam gets lost and we get lazy.

So we had not been in a minute.

----Today we went.
A little after 7.
As is often the case the little dude passed out…

When I got to the skatepark and it was still 90 and humid, there was no one there…
Weird actually. Especially for go skateboard day…
Everyone must have been at the shop…

So me and Mathew (one of the EUC kids) had the park all to ourselves.

It was pretty sweet and I went up and down the little quarter pipes on the Patton, which I had not done before.

---- Once the little dude woke up we decided to roll over to go see the progress on the Pump track.

And lots of parts were done so we actually got to ride it a bunch!!!

I can’t begin to describe how cool this is.

There were a couple of skateboard kids there and they were flying around the pump track.

I was on the Patton and that was ok, but I can’t wait to try a board on here.

I wonder if the park board is going to be good.
Or maybe the Omakase…

Or maybe I have to steal the Unlimited Hubs from the Rayne Crush and make a pump track specific set up!!!

So exciting.

And once this little dude figures it out it’s going to be insane!!!

So pumped!!!

We rolled back to the skatepark and I got the Nicky Guerrero out and had a chill time with it

Skateparks and pump tracks and riding with homies and the little dude.

Life is good!!!

Yeeeaaahh… 3… The motor sprocket creeps away from the motor.

Green loctite 680 retaining on the shaft should help prevent

Off course you have dude. Off course you have…

Was this also with chains?

Which motors?

I think I have some 680 around.

It was a fun weekend for riding.

Saturday there was a little contest at the skatepark, and I went there with the little dude.

Hot as balls in the middle of the afternoon…

But still fun to be there.

It was a low-key best tricky contest the local shop put on.

I was on the Nicky Guerrero, and some dude had an acoustic Nicky Guerrero!!!

After hanging at the contest a bit we snuck off to the pump track.

I had to park a ways away, so I was glad I had the onewheel in the trunk to ride over to the Pump track on the dirt road…

I super hate walking these days…
Onewheeling is the new walking…

This place is so amazing dude…
I can’t believe it.

And next to the big pump track, there is a baby pump track.

Seriously stoked.

So the Nicky Guerrero set up was pretty good for here.

It was blazing hot and even with the motor assist the pump track was exhausting.

I wonder if this can be my salvation for getting more aerobic exercise in my life.

I did one lap without throttle and it flows pretty well.

But it’s sweet to hit the trigger on the berms.

I can’t wait to get it more dialed in.

And I can’t wait to see this little dude evolve on it.

I got cooked really pretty fast at the pump track, so we headed back to the contest to hang out.

The little dude had fun.

I got a couple of my old skate buddies to hop on both the Nicky and the Hosoi.

Both of them first timers. And a couple other local kids hopped on them as well.

It’s still not for everyone…
A few people turned it the offer down.

But everyone that tried had a blast.

Good times.

Very cool!

What do you keep doing to the remote? Every so often you reach over with your free hand and do something to it. Just curious

You hold the trigger the whole time, and to make the speed got up and down you hit a “gear” plus or minus button.

Kinda like cruise control.

Today was a good day.

I got rid of a bunch of bad batteries I still had at my house.

Good riddance!!!

12S4P 40T I built and had on the Khymera.
12S4P 40T I built and had on the Llama.
12S3P P42A I built and had on the Rally Cat.
10S2P Wowgo 2S pack from 7 years ago.
10S2P Meepo ER I had on the Death Scooter

I took this box and dropped it off at the Lowe’s recycling station.

Felt good to get these things out of here.

Here lie empty shells of what once were amazing lighting murder boards…

I opened up the Meepo ER pack.

It wasn’t charging up.
I think I would only get to 39. Something…

I did not bother measuring the cells.

But I wanted to see the construction.
And it seems pretty decent.

I still have another one of these batteries running.
It charges to 41.5…

It is also possible with belts. Already saw it. Mostly I saw it becouse belt was blocked by mud or chain by stone. Also it can happen when Your motor mount are not stiff enought. And bude to elasticity of it coud by motor shaft dynamically micro bended. But it looks that it is not that case. Happy that You are ok!
