My Esk8s. A journal of sorts

Still investigating the cause? What happened exactly?

Hope you heal up fast

It was from carving too hard and the trailer got whipped and one wheel came off the ground and the trailer went on its right side.

The screeching was the side of the trailer on the pavement…
Basically it was pretty immediate.

I heard that noise and I was down…

This is a video from the trailer set up I had last year.

See how well it moves…

Today it was a different board and a different trailer. And only one kid inside on the side that it tipped over.

Damn dude glad you’re not too beat up and the kiddo is ok!

Ok.
Good news. Hit up urgent care for x-rays.
No fracture.

So just a good bruise. Shit sure hurts.
But not all that bad of a deal.

I’m on vacation this whole week.
May rain every day…
Maybe I’ll get a bit of work done!

Today’s project is going to be the Llama.
Getting most parts off the set up I had with the Evolve bamboo.

Well.

I fell again.

I was asking for it.
Was out on an epic family ride.

At the end of the trail there is an awesome mountain bike skills Park.

I had never been before and it it really sweet.

On one of the skill obstacles I that had a triangle ramp on top of a table top the board bottomed out…
So it stopped suddenly and I just fell back.

My back foot came off the bindings…
My front foot stayed and brought the board down.

It was a mellow fall and I kept riding.

My back is fucked now. But that is an ongoing battle of mine…

This guy here on the left is the one that sent me down…

On Sunday I used the mountain board to rake leaves on the street in front of the house.

It actually worked!!!

Oh wow.
I didn’t realize how much I have been slacking on doing updates here.
Bunch of stuff has gone down.

That’s awesome.

I finished the Llama.

This is just supposed to be a mellow neighborhood carver.
We will see…

This took mostly parts that were on the set up with the Evolve bamboo deck.

It has a 10S4P 30q
FSESC 6.6 dual plus.
The new Flipsky battle hardened 6374s 190kV.
Blacked out blue Caguamas.
Hexl Trucks.

And the Llama which is a giant monster of a deck.

The deck came with the sides black and I wanted them showing. So I sanded it.

Here is the Llama next to a Demonseed 42 which was my reference for a giant deck.

I just used some black Lucid on the Llama.
I need to add some more.

Here are a bunch of in process pictures…

It turned out pretty fun to ride.

The trucks are neat as they are pretty different than rkp.
More carvy.
I expect they will bend eventually running on Caguamas and under my weight. But whatever. I will deal with it then.

The new flipsky motors ran well.

I already wish this had a bigger battery.

And I am already thinking of doing different stuff with it.

But that is how the mind of an addict works

LLAMA LLAMA DING DONG!!!

Ok.

The MBS became the Tow Truck.
Did a bunch of updates to the MBS, added a trailer hitch. Put a different enclosure on there. Built a pack for it.

I think I will go into the details on the original thread.

This board is awesome.
Going on family rides is awesome.
Giant batteries are awesome.

I finished the Flux.

Probably the longest build time ever for me because I got distracted with other little projects and little upgrades and such.

I will do a separate build thread on the Flux.

Long story short.

It is freaking awesome.
And I love it.
And I really love it.
And giant batteries are awesome.
And I freaking love it.

After finishing the Flux I had 11 set ups running.
That lasted a minute.

I took a couple apart so I am down to 9 as of today…

I got some new safety gear.
Got the Demon Flexmeters… Because I like to jump on every single possible esk8 fad.

They seem nice.
Just bulky.
But I feel safe…

I got a new Fox Titan Sport Jacket.
My previous one has lots of holes on the mesh…
And I wanted the green one…

I like the high viz one…

It is hard to express how dorky I look out riding…

Oh well…

I have a bunch of little projects in the works.
Just stuff that has been around for a long time.

We will see how much gets done this winter.

Oh the wall we have:
The Demonseed with 110s
I need to build a pack for it.
DRI 12s4p PCB is in the mail.

The other Demonseed was running and I took it apart to check on the battery…
So now it is in limbo. Not sure what I’ll do with it.

The Rally Cat is on the bench right now. Will talk about it more later.

The Rayne Crush soft flex is getting electrified with spare parts.
More on that later.

The Haero is just hanging there.
It is running. And it is still awesome.
But maybe, just maybe I’m going to get an eboosted enclosure and make a new pack for it since @GJF1 showed me the way…

Then we have the Hosoi.
Needs to get put together…
But I still need to sort out a battery and an enclosure.

And finally the Acton Blink.
And I am not sure i will try to electrify it. Or just use the trucks and get a Dinghy Deck to make a tinier single drive than the Coyote?

Here is the Dinghy I got my eyes on.
Every day I fight the urge to order it.

Duuuude. What a quiver. You’re set to host your own esk8 event.

I’m currently gutting my hosoi to get the wife’s new board set up. It’s such a fun deck, I’m just such shit with kicktail decks. It’s like watching a giraffe on roller skates at times :expressionless:

Hey.
I’ll take your tail guard for the Hosoi then…

And yeah dude. I think it is easy to say that I am pretty obsessed with esk8…

I love riding.
And I love tinkering.

I may, just maybe, have gone overboard this year. And at one point the amount of crap I “had” to build was causing more stress than joy…

After getting the Flux done I felt pretty freaking good though.

And now that it is winter and not all days I can ride, I am glad I have stuff to tinker with.

You surely have a 3d printer by now right? The file is up on thingiverse and it’s been working great.
