Metr Pro UNITY bluetooth module

Does the module work for vesc flipsky 4.12?

Yes, the standard Metr Pro works with flipsky

@rpasichnyk Will these continue to be produced? Since Enertion will likely not be releasing the Nexus app (ever?) I am even more interested in getting one of these.

Of course, we never stopped producing thosešŸ‘

Hey

Iā€™ve been having some issues with my module. Itā€™s the unity version.

Some time after turning on my board and riding, the METR freezes and I donā€™t get any stats at all from the module.

Only way to get it sending stats again is by powering off the board and then on. Restarting METR app doesnā€™t work. Also note that the same issue happens shortly again after doing that fix :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I havenā€™t been riding for a loooong time so Iā€™m not able to tell exactly when it started, however I noticed the issues started after I moved from iPhone to Android which was on the 9. August 2019.

I got the module back when it was released and had no issues at the time. I know @wapkoen have also been experiencing the same issue as me.

Iā€™m using the V 4.12 of METR (pretty sure it used to work with that version) and V 23.45 on Unity (pretty sure I also experienced the issue with V 23.44 however I also experienced having no issues what so ever on that version???)

So basically I donā€™t remember updating anything so I just think it came from out of nowhere. That makes no sense though, so I must have done something lol.

For now Iā€™ve tried updating to V 4.16 METR and giving all permissions to the metr app (only had to disable battery saver mode for that app)

Have anyone experienced the same? And does anyone know what it could possibly be caused by or any ideas on troubleshooting?

Seriously all help is appreciated  Iā€™m tired of having fucked up ride statsā€¦

Thanks for reading till the end and have a great day everyone!

Does it look like this bug? UNITY 23.44 baud 250k + PPM bug
Can you try it on the bench? Full break with remote should mess with telemetry.
Please also send logs to support@metr.at

@rpasichnyk Thanks a lot! Will do all the things once I get home in about a week  however the baud rate was set to 115200 in the Unity app.

In the Unity app you can only change the baud rate of the external JST 7pin UART port. Not the internal one the Metr Pro UNITY is connected to.

Just tried to do the Full break thing and the telemetry still works absolutely fine afterwards.

Donā€™t know if it had anything to do with my app was outdatedā€¦

Will try to replicate the ā€œbugā€ and send you the logs once the whether gets better.

Thanks a lot for looking into this!

I went ahead to try and send the logs and clicked on "extract files* as to what to do when clicking show logs. How can I change it to something more useful?

Share it via email to support@metr.at, there should be a share button somewhere when you open log file in text viewer

Was probably not clear enough in my post. Was on the road and typing with glovesā€¦ Not a good combination

I went ahead and clicked on ā€œShow logsā€ and then it asked me what app Iā€™d like to open it with. I then selected ā€œExtractā€¦ā€. I canā€™t find the place where I change how I want to open it now so Iā€™m stuck at the Extract screen. If I then try to extract it, I just get error code.

BUT @wapkoen was a genius and helped me fix it :heart_eyes:All I had to do was reset the defaults for the file extracter program.

Now I just have to redo the error code again lol

For everyone running latest UNITY firmware 23.45, there is a serious issue.

Please stop using your UNITY until the new firmware version is provided. Or downgrade to older firmware with 115200 workaround https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/0pnwaB-qs0BrIiF6OQYkH00QA#UNITY_23_44_btuart115200

One more option, unplug the metr pro unity module.

NOTE: non-unity metr pro doesnā€™t trigger the issue

as in the uart metrā€¦but plugged into unity?

or as in any other vesc beside a unity?

So the word is, the metr that replaces the Unityā€™s built-in bluetooth module can trigger the issue, but not a normal metr (with wire) plugged into the unityā€™s exposed UART port. The issue is with the Unity at this firmware version, not the metr module. the metr pro unity module happens to tickles the bug.

Thanks. How to downgrade unity? The android app just provides the latest version of fw to flash

Well this sucks. I should be getting my unity metr in a few days.

Any idea when this will be resolved?

If this impacts only unityā€™s with the bt module why is the app disabled for normal metr pro module (On uart) too on the new firmware? Does disabling the app remove the issue for people who have the module? @Deodand are you working on fix for this firmware bug?
