One of the really nice features of the Monsoon Legacy is the aluminum enclosure. Basically, the entire enclosure is a heat sink.
I donāt think a thermal epoxy is a good idea but some other thermally conductive material like a mat might really help siphon off some heat.
I have really loved the idea of aluminum enclosures ever since I saw it on the Verreal RS. Maybe future aluminum enclosure can be optimized by having a series of shallow fins running down the length of the enclosure.
Theyāre sold in all sorts of sizings, thicknesses, and thermal conductivity ratings. In our case, youād probably just want something on the thicker and softer end of things that doesnāt suffer much from dry-out. You could probably cover the bottom surface of a pack with 2mm thick thermal pad for about $15?
Personally, iām working on building up a custom board right now and my next step is designing and manufacturing the enclosure - iām debating molding in a sheet of copper into the bottom of the carbon fiber enclosure to act as a large heatsink.
There is some adjustability in ride height. One of the new 3-links on the Meepo Monsoon Legacy had the center heim joint screwed in to lower the ride height.
I think a real test of these trucks is going to be how idiot proof they are when the masses get ahold of them. Seeing the struggles some have with a couple king pin and axle nuts, the FB posts will be interesting.
Itās awesome to have an āaffordableā complete race board offered. Hopefully other manufacturers follow suit to keep up with the Jonesā and we see some good competition. Hopefully it means more wheels/tires being offered, higher voltage non-VESCās, etc.
Moe named it, we donāt understand the meaning. But we used it.
Thatās awesome and hilarious (this brings back memories of being a kid and having to translate all sorts of English phrases to my parents, getting super exasperated when they would just not get it, and Iād eventually just give up).
