Meepo SRB MONSOON 🏄‍♂️

Severe voltage sag, which drops the amount of watts the battery is able to deliver at a given current. The cells could also overheat, yes. That seems less likely to me given the busty nature of esk8 current draw, though in racing where the constant load is high it’s much more likely.

Yep I agree with all of this. Which leaves me wondering what the specs of the LY-FIC 100b actually are. How many amps is it drawing from the battery? How many amps is it sending to each motor?

@MoeStooge do you have any of this info?

even in racing it’s very bursty.

Short track that is, this pack will cry at AVS or a gumball street race.
32 cell pack seems a fools errand to me in what looks to be a good sized board that could hold double that in a SS config.
Thats a onewheel sized pack.

Looks like a fun platform to build on/get more folks into racing/3links though.

I rode it and it’s quite fun. I’m excited to see the board get refined and released. It’s not a range or power monster, but like you said, it’s a great platform to get people racing.

@fessyfoo made pro class at esk8con on this board so it’s a capable board. Fess being an awesome rider of course helped!

I rode it too and was very impressed. Given the price tag, it’s an amazing entry race board. And u can easily bung a bigger battery in with another ESC and get something truly competitive in pro class.

Linnpower is working on adding a wear indicator dimple. Not sure when dimple racing slick will be available.

Can’t believe @ARCTIC created an alt account just to post this comment

The esk8 karen club never disappoints.

It wasn’t him

Awww, thank you, I’m happy you think I’m such a skilled rhetorician.

I think I remember hearing 50a per channel.

I beleive these are the power delivery ratinngs of the current components being used on the MLR as discussed.
The esc is limited to 6kw (40a per channel) in a watertight heatsync
The 16s2p battery is rated 6.8kw
Motors are rated 7kw

@fessyfoo qualified this setup in the pro division

50a per cell even on a p45b will not last long until thermal issues arise. Either the spec sheet is misleading or this board is gonna sag to hell.

If the battery pack has some custom active cooling that would help mitigate the issue

Can you heat sink a flat pack battery?

Possibly! Glue the pack to a heat pipe with a thermally conductive epoxy for example

Thank you very much for sharing these numbers! I’m still a bit confused though, because the math doesn’t quite work out:

  • 40A per channel x 2 channels = 80A total from the battery pack.

  • 16s full charge volume (67.2V) x 80A total = 5,376W absolute maximum.

  • 16s mid charge voltage (60.0V) x 80A total = 4,800W.

And that’s not even taking into account voltage sag, which there would be quite a lot of at 40A per cell, even with P45B.

No doubt! With an extremely talented racer on a well tuned truck setup, anything is possible. Look how many people made it into advanced on stock import boards. Talent is a huge factor in racing, in my opinion. Perhaps even a larger factor than electrical specs.

Like i said before, I’m not looking to throw any stones here. I’m legitimately curious about the specs and performance of the first ever 16a-capable non-vesc esk8 esc.

Umm having any doubt at all is throwing stones sir. Don’t you know how this works.

I would think another 16s P group would be a good move on this.
Will put the word in. I think we can get this done.

100% agree. The extra p-group would be a good step up for range. Right now the range is probably 10-11 miles. 16s3p would mean 15-16 miles.
