Kate Hudson received a major upgrade today thanks to @Lobap.

I removed the ugly eLofty drive from it and instead put on this beauty

It took it out for a quick pushing session. Turned out I got wrong pivot cups so there was quite a bit of wobble and the trucks were very loose. The board was still stable enough for pushing speeds.

I must say that though I’m a TKP guy, I actually like the RKP trucks better on this deck, even with the wrong pivot cups. Well, to be fair, maybe it’s also that I compare shitty TKP trucks with good RKP trucks. Anyway, I do like the new trucks. Deep turns, in particular, felt very smooth and stable.

On the TKP I felt like the deck is too wide and I had to change my stance to shift my weight enough to make a good deep turn. I didn’t have this problem on the new trucks.

I yet have to test how much wheelbite is an issue on small pneumatics. 7" Evolve didn’t work. It would require significant riser at the very least. 6" could be OK though.

Would wider hangers be helpful in that case?

Sure, that always helps.

The RE 44 enclosure from @BigBen just arrived aaaaand…

… it fits nicely!

It’s almost as if it were made for the deck. The only problem is that it doesn’t copy the profile of the deck perfectly:

That’s not a problem at all though. First, the enclosure can be bent slightly and could actually be forced to copy the deck profile with bolts. Second, the gap can always be filled with a gasket or with a TPU printed part. I’m thinking of the latter and make it hold the connectors as well. Then everything can be easily built into the deck and the enclosure will only be used as a cover. That would make servicing a breeze.

Thanks Ben!
