MBM’s Non-Osha Approved Build Cave

ive never ridden matrix trucks how do they feel compred to like an rkp setup? i guess its not maybe possible to compare since you are running tires

I love them

The channel style trucks vs the rkp is definitely noticeable if you ride one after another

My backup boards has rkp trucks and after riding that for a week it make me want my channels back

It’s very hard to explain but there is a noticeable difference to me

The best way I could put it, is the turning on a rkp feels more exponential, where as a channel feels linear

I’ve found setup easier to dial them in, and with the lacroix bushings it’s even easier

I haven’t ridden them on urethane, but I would imagine the feeling will be similar to if you’re running pneumatics, just not as cushy

My next trucks are going to be BN Channels, the matrix ii’s i’ve found need replacement bushings after about a month of hard riding, sometimes sooner

For me if it’s a flat deck i’ll run rkp, but if there’s angles on the deck I move to channel style, although I would love to ride a set of duality’s on a flat deck/split angle deck

I also have a +5 deg and -5 deg spacers on my board now which help a lot at the higher speeds

Okay APPARENTLY 8inch pneumatics are too hard, and they will break the glass window of a train

Or at least NCTD thinks so, bc they felt the need to kick me off for this reason

Fuck the Sprinter

Oooh big bad scary skateboard is too much for train man

That or I just put it in the luggage area way up high, I just weighs 40lbs

I think it’s just time to start to ride the whole way to work, Step up the battery and not have to worry about range

And i’ve found some people like it and some don’t, unfortunately there’s not much I can do about that

An hour later

Nice and slick

Dunno if i’m the only person who takes the time to cut all the nubbies off

No judgement but like… Why?
Is this just an aesthetic preference?

Yes mostly

It’s kind of a headache but i’ve found when seating them sometimes they are annoying and get stuck under the seat of the tire, which leads to side to side wobble

Its nothing really bad but the higher speeds you feel it

But its mostly for looks, a nice razor blade and some time and they look good, i’ll put some ceramic on the walls to keep them clean and looking nice and that’s that

Went for a cruise today, It was super hot at my place so I went out to the ocean to get some ocean air

Just over 9 miles in about 30 min, was just cruising around having a good time

Very nice day, and tested my new gopro pov setup, worked well, just need to figure out a mic situation for going some videos on yt

Not sure if many people would watch, but I have a lot of fun interactions day to day and figured maybe putting something out there would be fun

I do some fpv stuff so it’ll go on that channel which will probably turn into vlog/esk8 channel when I get the time to make videos

I think it was 1996, when I nearly got arrested for skating to the 7-11.

They’d just made skating llegal downtown, and i had checked the map, and was still in a legal spot, when a cop on a bike told me to walk it.

I didn’t.

He came up behind me, silently and pushed me off my skate.

I didnt know it was the cop and livid, went to go defend myself and he shrieked like a little bitch, but then out came knightstick and the false deep voice of authority.

At one point there were 3 cop cars and 4 bike cops until one of them finally procured the map showing i was indeed skating in the legal zone.

Was hearing their radios, drunk guys a block away were trying to rip down street signs, but they just sat there, doing nothing.

That’s my lasting impression of Carlsbad cops, nearly 28 years later.

Ducking fouchebags.

Yep, That’s why I want a camera on me 24/7 for riding

For crazies, cops, karen’s, and all the inbetweens

Carlsbad is miles better than Oside

OPD hates everyone, ive dealt with them numerous times, without the board ofc

But that is the world we live in

I had a guy honk at me today as I was walking w my gf, he goes “yo yo yo, bro, I need some help” and I whipped around and told that guy “fuck no bro what was that, you’re rude asf for honking at me when i’m right in front of you, get that in your head bro :point_right::face_with_raised_eyebrow:” He quipped his arms at he as he sat in his shitty car, not wanting to get out

The world is a lovely place, I find joy in my interactions with people who don’t understand the standard practice of being a human, and to be nice

Remember everyone, it’s not hard to be nice, but don’t overstep, or let people overstep you

Peace and Love

Finally got the charge port installed, I been lacking and keep forgetting but I got tired of opening the box

Just got back from a 14 mile ride

Turned the amps up a little bit more to 65a battery and it’s riding very similar to how it felt before, I was running just a touch more before it blew

I was worried about the lipos ballooning and getting too old but they are still in great shape and hold charge great

No hard sag until 3.6v a cell which all things considered is pretty good, and they are good for 200a before they start to become unhappy

I have also have had this 12v to 5v usb converter and usb C ports on my bench for a couple weeks now and I just remembered I wanted to put that in as well so I can charge my phone, I think i’m going to tackle that tonight

Well now there’s really a lot going on in my top box top lol

I got the port installed and left I usb A on the inside just in case, Upon plugging my phone into the port nothing happened, turns out I bought power in, not power out, for the usb c ports (I guess that is a thing) so they will receive power, but not give it

I’m just going to unsolder it, cap the ends with shrink tubing, and order the right ones

Classic

says electric also but maybe this would be an option

How are you running a 10-32vdc to 5v converter /usb power supply from 12s?

There’s a little bit of magic that’s all scrambled up in there

No just kidding

The converter above the 10v-32v step down to 5v, is a 20v-60v step down to 12v 15a I believe

It’s wired in before the switch to the lights, so it always has power, but the lights still have their switch to power on and off

When I put the first converter in for the lights I figured I might as well order one for charging, as i’ve gotten in the situation before where i’ve been stuck somewhere with my board, and no way to charge my phone

I left a usb a port on the inside of the case so for the time being it still works, just a little hard to get to

I’ve thought about something like that, I just don’t want to carry all of the weight if I don’t have to

I was thinking about maybe like a roller duffle and just roll it on

In other news, got my ticket checked, and so far no one is bothered
