Well it’s been a few days now that if had my steed back and I missed it so much
To follow up my last post board is still riding well, if not better than it was before
I’m running more conservative settings which is leading my riding to become a little bit safer
I think I will eventually turn it back up, but for longevity of the lipos I figured it’s better to keep them low
I would love to go 18s and i’ve thought hard about it, but my biggest gripe is that the top box would have to be massive if i’m running 3x 6s 20ah Lipos
So i’m kinda thinking maybe going lithium ion and getting a p42a cell pack made, but that is just a big bill to foot, vs a $200 lipo
Reason behind moving up to 18s is for range/power. I have a lot of hills on my normal ride and find myself topping out on power when I want more, along with being able to ride the full 18 miles to work everyday.
The funny part is if I stick with Lipos, the box will stay the same whether I want 12s 40ah or 18s 20ah, but that box is massive, and going 12s requires 2 new batteries instead of 1
So it seems to be a no brainer to go 18s 20ah instead of 12s 40ah, unless I switch over to Molicel cells, where I can probably fit 18s in the same pack size as my 12s setup right now
Just been thinking about the next step, Waiting for payday to get started on the meepo deck swap.
I am also getting to the point where I am at the limits of belt drive with the setup I have
Running 20t 72t without an idler has proven very hard to keep from slipping in the extremes
The 20t motor pulley makes it so the idler pulley on the boardnamics xl mounts don’t line up, which means I have to omit them
I think gear drive is my next step it’s just another chunk of change to go to that setup
Unlesssssss someone has a gear drive set for matrix ii’s at a good price then let’s talk, only thing is I need 10mm pinions for da bioboard motors
Speaking of I also have been putting off replacing the bearings in those motors so I am planning on swapping those out soon
I hit some off road for the first time today with the new clever tires and I now see why everyone raves about them
They hook great in the dirt and are highly confidence inspiring, along with on the road they feel like street tires, and the line of grip is very easily noticeable where it looses and gains traction
