MBM’s Non-Osha Approved Build Cave

Well big sad

Looks like i’m the first person to lose a bootloader on a solo.

Big huge stinkin shoutout to @Skyart for taking the time tonight to walk me thru some things

Wasn’t able to get the SWD programmer to work right so it’ll be bricked for a couple days waiting on replacement pcb.

Buuuuuut I did get it all on gopro so you can hear me “whaaat nooooo” when it loses power.

That’s that vesc life. Glad to be apart of a community that helps each other out.

Well i’m on my way to work this morning in an very nice $40 Uber

And the thing i’m really the most mad about all this is that I lost my 26 day streak on YT, and I was #2! Goddamn it

Ah well once it’s back up and running i’m coming for that top spot

40!??!? Geeeezz! I would just single drive :smiling_face_with_tear: il overnight that replacement part

Yeaaaahhh dude I definitely had a thought about that.

I went to bed at 2:30 and I woke up 7:30 Left around 8.

I wish there was more time in the day to get stuff fixed.

Luckily I have a ride home

Thanks for the help dude let me know if you want the old one back to check it out

ya i wish i had more esk8 repair time… so what happened? glad you didnt crash.

Yes I definitely am glad for bindings.

Rolled up to a light and just gave it some power up to about 30mph

I hit a pretty gnarly set of bumps and poof no more power.

Luckily I was able to pull of onto the side walk in time.

Let me post this vid on yt rq so I can link it here to show how uneventful it luckily was

EMTB Vesc Failure

Okay here it is. Nothing fancy just it turning off and me going what lol

Literally 2 days after I got my gopro so it’s getting some good use

While I wait for that part to arrive I figured I might as well get the new tires tossed on

And ooooooooh they look pretty dang good

I did end up setting up just one side so I had one wheel drive to run to the store and back

But man it’s pretty odd with that one sided power so I was taking it slow

New pcb should be here tomorrow and i’ll be off to the races

Well as it would turn out I did end up doing some damage to the Solo

Got the new top Pcb on and it had an eternal High Offset current sensor Fault

So I must’ve done something to it, waiting on a couple more things and then ill be back on the board

Im sure the NCTD people are glad that I am not riding the train this week as I am not on their good list

I think I will end up piecing together my old meepo nls belt to ride 2 and from the station everyday, I only have about 2 more uber rides left in the wallet until I need to figure something out

At least the new tires are staying clean and board looks sick in my living room

I think Im going to take the time soon to also take apart the motors and replace the bearings in them that are past due for replacement, I just need to figure out the safest way to get them apart and back together, they are some large lads

I do want to say thank you one again to @Skyart to being more than amazing with support. I’m not sure what situation I would be in if it was any other company, but I know it would not be as good as it has been. Can’t rave enough about the solos, even with my mishap.

Anyone have recommendations for short board deck?

Looking for something like the big old school decks

Kinda like this but with a wider rear footpad

I’m going to deck swap my backup meepo bc while riding it I realize it sucks doody and would be sweet as a short deck

Solo on da way, I am so giddy to ride

In other news I’ve also found the deck ima use for the meepo, they are super local so I can go pick it up in person

Just need to order batteries and bms and figure out what ima do for an enclosure, I might keep the meepo one, but I want to design one to print out and fit 2x 5s Lipos and the bms nicely

Aaaand to follow up last post of good things

After my nice 2 days off of relaxing and hanging out (ie being bored outta my mind)

I went to leave today and was like “Ih that is right I need to plug in my motor again”

My last ride otw home my motor cable popped out right as I got home. That morning I had shrink wrapped the connectors so that wouldn’t happen but here we are

My best hypothesis is that the plug popped out, and one of the phase wire plugs was just in enough to bridge and cause some damage to the female plug so I was unable to plug it in

I was able to re center the plug but to no avail

So last minute I clipped it off and tried to bridge the phase wires, but I just didn’t have enough time to get everything connected

So just a day away from getting the main board back, I am having problems with my backup

Now I totally blame this on me as I had 2 full days to fix it, but I just looked past it

Tonight I will bridge the wires and hopefully get it all ready for tomorrow

So I can get home and get the solo all up and ready to go

Remmeber! When plugging in the Solos make sure your switch wire is disconnected from them!

Absolutely will remember

I run a loop key and keep the top box disconnected when working on it

And i’ll shrink wrap over the phase wires

I’ve had enough of my stupid mistakes lol

Thanks again dude i’ll let you know how it goes

Beyond stoked to get my board back n rippin

Back on the steed for the morning ride

Glad I have it back, especially now that my gf wants to break up with me

Great fuckin news to get on my biggest work day of the month

Well it’s been a few days now that if had my steed back and I missed it so much

To follow up my last post board is still riding well, if not better than it was before

I’m running more conservative settings which is leading my riding to become a little bit safer

I think I will eventually turn it back up, but for longevity of the lipos I figured it’s better to keep them low

I would love to go 18s and i’ve thought hard about it, but my biggest gripe is that the top box would have to be massive if i’m running 3x 6s 20ah Lipos

So i’m kinda thinking maybe going lithium ion and getting a p42a cell pack made, but that is just a big bill to foot, vs a $200 lipo

Reason behind moving up to 18s is for range/power. I have a lot of hills on my normal ride and find myself topping out on power when I want more, along with being able to ride the full 18 miles to work everyday.

The funny part is if I stick with Lipos, the box will stay the same whether I want 12s 40ah or 18s 20ah, but that box is massive, and going 12s requires 2 new batteries instead of 1

So it seems to be a no brainer to go 18s 20ah instead of 12s 40ah, unless I switch over to Molicel cells, where I can probably fit 18s in the same pack size as my 12s setup right now

Just been thinking about the next step, Waiting for payday to get started on the meepo deck swap.

I am also getting to the point where I am at the limits of belt drive with the setup I have

Running 20t 72t without an idler has proven very hard to keep from slipping in the extremes

The 20t motor pulley makes it so the idler pulley on the boardnamics xl mounts don’t line up, which means I have to omit them

I think gear drive is my next step it’s just another chunk of change to go to that setup

Unlesssssss someone has a gear drive set for matrix ii’s at a good price then let’s talk, only thing is I need 10mm pinions for da bioboard motors

Speaking of I also have been putting off replacing the bearings in those motors so I am planning on swapping those out soon

I hit some off road for the first time today with the new clever tires and I now see why everyone raves about them

They hook great in the dirt and are highly confidence inspiring, along with on the road they feel like street tires, and the line of grip is very easily noticeable where it looses and gains traction
