Madness - 4wd Monster Build

One thing I was wondering.
Why you decided to route out the phase and sensor plugs to the up and not through the deck?

The plug for the sensor wires is quite long. The best angle for the wires with the truck movement is to go up from the motors and then back down into the board. Running them underneath or out the sides would have caused wire fatigue issues or minimal clearance from the drives.

It’s definitely not gonna be a pretty build, but I’m hoping it will be reliable.

I think it’ll look perfectly fine, awesome work :+1:

Me too, I think this is an awesome build so far :ok_hand:

Are you skinning the top of that deck @glyphiks?

Nah man, just gonna paint it black

There’ll be fuck all visible deck left after the battery box goes on

Yeah should be fine. Better the cables up than down and get shit caught up in.

I thought I have seen a 90 degrees GX12, but just realized they are all GX16…

Too late now  will keep those in mind tho, they look handy.

Corona has me broke so need to work with what I’ve got… lucky I have been banking parts for about a year

Epoxy is some sneaky shit… tried to use hot glue as a barrier to pour epoxy underneath the davegax plate. It sprung leaks everywhere

Frantically squirted hotglue over all of the leaks and ended up with this… tomorrow morning is going to be interesting to say the least

Try Aluminum tape on the borders next time, i found that it doesn’t leak epoxy as much as say hotglue or masking tape.

You need to get your 3d printer up and running dude :joy:

Pro tip, cheers!

@Lee_Wright as handy as the printer is, i do enjoy the struggles of making shit by hand. But remind me again once this epoxy has cured and I’m sure I might be feeling a little differently

looks like you had a fun time here

As fun as it was squirting hot glue everywhere, it’s gonna be much funner trying to get it off with epoxy fucking everywhere

These went well. I was always gonna need to do a tidy up and second pass on these, so I’m calling this success.

If you have any silicone caulking around, you can “catalyze” it by mixing in a bit of water/acrylic paint/spit/h20 onto a cup of it and seal any gaps before doing your epoxy. You can peel or slice it off after its set.

Why do you need to catalyze? What is the purpose of adding water?

I would have thought that silicone wouldnt mix at all with any of those things

I dunno about water, but I’ve use dishsoap and water to catalyze silicone before the glycerine in the dish soap accelerates the cure process for of 100% pure silicone but I dunno what I’m talking about!

I think this is my favorite build of all time. God damn it I want one.

Yeah if you put silicone in a bucket full of water with dishsoap you can handle the silicone and use it to form molds. But it doesnt mix.
