lmao I just realised now that there’s a bl module inside my little fofo. so excited for the turbo def getting dem bad boys
Hi would love to build a few are these any good and is it worth waiting for next revision with new processor? Is this open source or off the shelf unit?
These are sold fully assembled and building them is not required. The new revision does not have a new processor. It just has a different gate driver style. The hardware is not open source.
Thanks
What do we have here?
How this has landed here so fast?
I just updated my latest board design on my website yesterday…
@jesus What is this? How is this relevant to the Little FOCer? @ENNOID is this your design? If so, I apologize if you didn’t want it to end up here.
Yes it is my design.
It is not to you to apologize, it is your thread. and this guy Jesus decided to drop this here for no reason. So, sorry on my side.
I started my own thread for this.
I’m sorry, I wanted to show the connectors used on the board to discuss it with you. Should’ve prefaced. sorry ennoid for posting this here… In either case both your board layouts and interesting and good to see next to each other!
Are you referring to the threaded SMD posts for the DC and motor phase cables?
Anyone using one of these on a bike? If so I have a few Q’s.
I will be soon, but not currently. So probably no help to you haha. What’s your Q’s?
Yeah I am
nice ok so basically these are my Q’s:
- I’m looking to run 80A continuous on a 20S pack - would you advise against this (even if I give it active cooling) - I know its spec’d for this, but asking because on a bike you throttle differently.
- have you hooked it up to a mid drive or hub drive at or around those above specs? Given my above call out I’m looking to run ~6,500 watts through it. Do you have a motor you like for that range? I’ve heard arguments for mid and hub.
- what throttle do you use?
- I don’t need regen, and I’m not a tuning wiz to begin with (but I’ve tuned my fare share of boards) please let me know if you run regen or if you feel isn’t good for drivability (which is my concern)
- is there a bike specific display that works with it? I have a few davegas I could use too would just need a new case or something to mount it. but would like display make for a bike.
I think we need a ebike noob questions thread
lol damn shots fired
80amps should be fine. I can answer your other questions via phone. I’ll pm you my number.
Should be fine man.
There’s pros and cons to hub or mid drive. Mid drive offers mechanical advantage with pulley/gear/sprocket ratio. Its also puts much less strain on the frame by being center located and mounted to the stronger portions of the frame. Cons are that it’s more effort to install and can eat up space that could otherwise be used by the battery. Hubs are easy to install and remain out of the way. Cons are that it’s only ever a 1:1 ratio. Increasing torque output has to be done electrically only. I use a MXUS V3 hub for my ride.
Typical hall effect based thumb throttle
It mainly boils down to battery limitations rather than the controller as long as you operate it in the advertised current limits. You need to make sure your battery can absorb regenerated energy at all times.
Not that I’m aware of. I just use a phone holder mounted in the center of my handle bars and use the VESC android app for telemetry and real time data.
