Can anyone tell me what tire options are available/will fit the phub-188?
Thanks

That is a good question. If someone knows of another option for a tire, that would be awesome.

The real Onewheel uses a go kart tire and it seems those are sized in whole inch sizes so the 5.5" tire on the phub-188 is not a standard go kart tire size. I donā€™t have my phub-188 yet but I havenā€™t found any good replacement options other than the tire Pei supplies.

I have a phub-144 and phub-188 on order and will tear them apart and compare. The phub-144 is listed to use a 6" tire like the Onewheel but the axle is longer than the phub-188 and so the phub-144 probably doesnā€™t work with Enginirā€™s frame kit. Might work with his side rails and swap the plates for wider ones but will see after I get everything.

Looking at the phub-188 listing, the rim diameter is listed as 150mm. Converting this to imperial is 5.9", not 5.5". Iā€™m guessing they are measuring the edge of the rim which isnā€™t accurate for sizing of tires. Would need to measure where the tire bead sits on the rim.

Whenever I get the phub-144 and phub-188, I will take photos and measurements. I have a 6" tire on order and will see if it will fit on the phub-188. Not holding my breath but we shall see.

I have both, 144 is 6" but less wide, 188 is 5.5 .

I think is a 3d printable rim adapter to 6" ive seen people using, but i think you need a tubed tire if you use it. Also may not fit enginirs frame. Maybe the adapter is for hoverboard motors, im forgetting.

Do you know if there are other substantial differences between the 144 and 188?
Iā€™m wondering if pei pei could be talked into doing a run of the 144 motor with the 188 axle.

Full disclosure I donā€™t know what Iā€™m talking about Iā€™ve only briefly looked at the phub-188 on the pei pei site.

Thanks

Was afraid it would be narrower. :frowning: Do you have any measurements on how much narrower? I donā€™t even know how wide the 188 is.

Group buy request?

Would be really nice to get a 6" version of the phub-188. I would throw my name into the hat for a group buy if the price is reasonable.

I sent them an email and asked if thatā€™s an option.

Found a few width measurements.

This has a diagram of the phub-147 at 150mm rim width and that is supposed to be the same rim/motor as the 188.

This lists the phub-144 as 130mm rim width and the diameter at 170mm.

So the 144 is about 20mm/0.75in narrower. Probably still work with the Onewheel tires but will affect the profile of the tread. Did you even mount a tire to your phub-144?

Hey guys, I fitted a original onewheel pint tire onto my Phub188 hubmotor.
All that was needed is 3D printed Tpu adaptor ring and a inner tube.
My prints didnā€™t have a nice enough surface to hold air so I had to use a inner tube. I do believe that when the adaptors have a better surface finish I could get away with just using tire slime to seal the small gaps and run it tubeless.
Hereā€™s a picture of the Phub188 with adaptor and onewheel pint tire.

Here it is mounted on my onewheel.

Did you mount a p-hub on a genuine onewheel??

That is great to know! Would you be able to upload the adapter ring to Thingiverse or Prusaprinters?

I created a thingiverse account a few minutes ago.
The file will be uploaded in 24 hours (new user restrictions). I will let you guys know once itā€™s available.

Lol , no itā€™s my DIY onewheel!

Awesome! Thank you!

You got me worried here.
Mind sharing your experience with the p-188?
What version did you get and what you are achieving speedwise?

Iā€™m running a modified phub188, i changed the windings from star to delta to get more speed. Only downside with the mod is that the hubmotor also getā€™s les torque by doing the mod. Havenā€™t had any problems with it so far.

On 12s2p (samsung q30 cells) I reached a speed of 32kmh. Cruising speed is Ā±23kmh.
