Illegal versus legal esk8 world wide

Although this combination is not too bad > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ9uc4R90nY&feature=youtu.be&t=112

Greece is a gray area too.

Another map that I came across that contains esk8 spots and charging possibilities (don’t know how legitimate it is though, but this one is scalable)

A community map started by @DeathCookies and continued among others by @IDVert3X on the old forum (see https://www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/esk8-map-of-users/10248/202) can be found here https://esk8map.patrikgajdos.eu/#3/30.00/0.00

Australia: legal <25km/h (most states, started in QLD & NSW), used to be <250W so much better now

From what I’ve read, Ontario (Canada) is another grey area where it’s de facto illegal but unless you’re being dangerous you’ll likely never get stopped for it.

We updated the list. It’s not perfect yet, thinking of actually calling every country in the world to finally get this sorted. Especially the east European country’s are difficult to find reliable information for.

U.K ‘grey area’ of legality regarding esk8 may go from grey to green (as in legal)…article here: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/mar/16/electric-scooters-get-green-light-to-go-on-britains-public-roads

Remember, the wording is about scooter and not boards.

Same as the retarded land i call home. Scooter yay - board nay

this is true.

ive not got a board yet, building one (collecting parts). you live in London, right? do you get hassled by the police when riding?

But once they say yes to scooters they will struggle to convict you as you can show them that and say that you didn’t know blah blah blah

They are not German police they are actually quite reasonable here

Not really

There are barely any police and my area and most are happy to let me carry on riding as long as I am safe and careful

I live in a bit more of a suburban area of London so it’s pretty chilled and quite and the police are also

Even if boards get legal here in Germany, not all board will be. Just like with the scooter, not every ecooter is allowed. It has to meet a certain criteria and needs ABE (General operating license) from the manufacturer. You can get one yourself afterwards but they are really pricey. So everything we ride now probably won’t be legal, even if esk8 in general is legal

That is obvious and appropriate in my opinion. You can’t assemble a 500PS car from scrap parts and go racing on the autobahn, that would be madness. Same with esk8. We are building overpowered, uncertified and untested boards and go ride them on public streets. I fully understand that this is illegal.

That doesn’t mean that commercial, certified boards with 250w or 500w can’t or shouldn’t be allowed.

Actually in many countries you can do exactly that, as long as it passes road legal requirements. e.g. Hotrods.

Its NOT about safty, its about MONEY! You have to learn this.

You can. In Germany as well. But it costs a lot, as you need an Einzelbetriebserlaubnis (EBE) (“type approval”) which costs at least 5000€.

Same with e scooters or someday maybe esk8. Old scooters that aren’t street legal can be made street legal by the same procedure (less expensive though).

Whose money?
