yours! You are forced to buy a vihicle instead of building your own vihicle.
Or take the buckle up law here in germoney: Its all about safty, right?
NO, its about taking your money legaly if you dont buckle yourself up.
Thats what im talking about. I talked to a police officer about the buckle up law, bc imo i am responsible for my own life, and he answered that he will be the one who has to scratch my gutz from the road when i fly through the window bc i was not buckled up, and he said that he dont wants to do this…Its like you go to the dentist and the dentist says to you “No, i dont feel like looking into your mouth bc there could be caries on your teeth.”

Well, one thing causes post-traumatic stress disorder, the other doesn’t  also it is not only about your safety but that of other car passengers, cyclists and pedestrians.

surly a little bit and this sounds good to normal ppl, but 300kmh on the autobahn and you think everyone is save around them idiots because they are buckled up?
I dont think so. Everything is just about the money. Women sell their bodys for money, friends betray friends for money and the government takes your money bc your first aid kid in your car isnt up to date just when you re buckled up hahahahah
IEdit: I thought the same way you do decades ago, bc i wasnt born as a man who calls everthing in questions, but today i see them governments with different eyes. All they want is your money, nothing more and they always make you believe its just good for you and for society, but its not, its just greed.

I didn’t know until now! Love the Matrix movies too. One of the reasons why I named my board after Morpheus.

Hm, looking at the overall picture, there are two ways to see things:

a) On one hand I worry we might be moving to a heavily regulated status, where vendors of premades are forced to handicap (with regards to power and speed) their boards in unreasonable ways in order to be allowed to sell them in the market. Similar to what happened with vaping (which was largely tax-profit motivated and based on misinformation). These things get decided out of the blue, with hardly any expert consultation or debate, in a couple of evening parliament sessions, before anyone notices -because the focus is on larger legislation articles. Not good for most but savvy DIY guys practically unaffected.

b) On the other hand, it might end up being better because it would normalise their use. It’s less likely that you are stopped on a DIY skateboard if they are generally legal but yours is just faster/more powerful -which is not always easy to tell by observation- than if they were treated as unclassified “motorised vehicles”.

In the end it will probably still remain dependant on the overall attitude regarding rule enforcement of the country I.e. I don’t see anything being enforced in Greece, especially out of big streets of our few main cities -and even there probably only if you trigger the wrong cop or do something really stupid. In the UK the cops will use their own judgement as they typically do, unless a local council decided it’s disruptive and the police department gets a memo that they have to enforce -but that shouldn’t happen unless there are some accidents or reports of reckless riders. Whereas in Germany -and surprisingly- The Netherlands, it sounds like they might be as anal as realistically possible either way.

That’s really not confidence inspiring.

Austria should also be “Gray Area”. ESK8 are considered as toys and allowed on sidewalks as long they dont endanger pedestrians. I have to confess: “I also ride on the bicycle lane”. The main point here is: “No one knows if it is legal or illegal”.

It beats taking the most literal interpretation of laws that were not even written to protect against the specific situation at hand, and enforcing it blindly, as it seems to happen in Germany. And thankfully they seem to have better judgement and attitude than their US counterparts.

Personally I’ve only had good experience with police interaction in my 8 years in the UK -I work next block from the county police station so I encounter cops on foot and police cars on my skateboard most days (well, pre-lockdown).

New Zealand, if you want to use public walkways and sidewalks, limited by 250w. Non public areas you can do what you want. Not sure if you can have more than one motor giving 250w, but that is what it says.

Ebikes also limited to 250w. That just shows how little the lawmakers know. With a mid drive 250w rated motor you can really go fast. The pensioners over here, they have all gotten it into their heads to get on ebikes. The speeds they go worries me. The emergency service will have a lot more of those to scrape off the road surface than non-seatbelt wearers…

Interestingly a mobility scooter is limited to 1500w, you should see how those “disabled” pensioners hoon those scooters on the sidewalks.

It’s simple, just make a super mobility scooter lol

The solution to esk8 laws in the US is to be as fast as possible to not get caught by the bike police. They’re the only ones that care enough to pull you over in my experience.

In my town they’re called “Code Enforcement Officers” or as I like to call them; Chode Enforcement Officers

Mobility scooter may ride 45 km/h without helmet and license in the netherlands but you shall not ride 10 km on esk8
