Yes they are good decks
i heard they are good, but i haven’t got one to try myself
That’s a decent cheap option, but a few things to note:
Polyester resin comes in two types. Laminating and finishing resin. That Bondo 20122 is finishing resin. Laminating resin won’t cure unless there is some kind of air tight seal over top of it. Finishing resin has wax added to it, and the wax floats to the top to seal it from air so it can cure.
Since your enclosure will need a few layers of fiberglass, you will need to either saturate all the layers and apply at once (not a good idea on a large part) or let each layer cure, sand them to remove the wax, then apply the next layer. It just adds time. It would be better to use a laminating resin and spray on some PVA to cover the last layer and allow it to cure.
I did a 6oz cloth, 1.5oz chop strand, then a 6oz cloth over a positive mold which was just some 2x4s I glued together and shaped into what I wanted. I used epoxy instead of polyester, but that’s a lot more expensive.
The enclosure is functional and strong but won’t win any beauty contests.
Just remember, measure once, drill twice ![]()
I know its out there somewhere, but I can not seem to find it. Does anyone know where the list of enclosure vendors is?
@eBoosted
@BigBen
and i think @glyphiks also?
but what deck do u need enclosure for? not every deck has one made, and most enclosure either only fit that deck or very similar shaped deck with some gasket
@tomiboi has great enclosures, too. Thermoformed kydex.
But yeah deck choice is pretty critical to choosing an enclosure.
I dont really have deck anymore. I am trying to find one that has an enclosure to match.
This thread sums up everything good about this community. “I need help please”, 3 months later and 466 replies later, @ceasium is still getting all the help he needs
I 100% agree. And thank you all for your continued support.
oh yes, i almost forgot. but his enclosure is custom made to fit his deck, not any commerically available decks. BUUUT his deck is awesome, @ceasium if u got the cash, its money well spent on one of @tomiboi 's combo
His short enclosure is very universal. Fits almost everything I’ve tested it on. Haven’t tried out the long yet, and I beliieeeeeeeve theres a long non-segmented something something in the works.
Do they have a website I can visit?
I might have a deck + enclosure system that will work for you. Maybe the Liquid Sword would fit your build The Liquid Sword: 38" Drop-deck (Deck + Enclosure system) (tomiboiesk8.com)
I actually checked it out. Its reallyyyyyy nice, but my wallet is to thin for a deck that nice.
I might be starting a sale this weekend ![]()
bigben and glyphiks doesn’t have a website afaik, but u can message them and see if they are free to arrange something for u
let me stop u right there, i’ve recently spent too much money already. i don’t want to go broke yet
jkjk, more sale = more esk8, can’t wait to see what u got in store
Eboosted is the best place to look. Old mate can get a combo there and be good to go.
I only have molds for obsolete deck shapes
Demonseed 44 SS
LY switch 40 SS
LY switchblade 40 DS
LY 2011 wolfshark SS
Also, i charge too much.
Its funny because I am thinking about getting ly switchblade 40
I’m pretty sure the deck mold has changed since the one i modelled off.
Also, double stack on a switchblade is kinda gross
