Hunterboards, a new take on e-skate design?

Yeah, and I’m hoping to that the guys there don’t turn out to be Umm (how to say it nicely?) like the Evolve guys! Haha what is scaring me about the hunter board is those tires. It’s not that I plan on riding through crap with it(though we’ll see! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:), but those sunrise rides to work before the frozen frost has burnt off the roads/sidewalks may be the death of me with them!

Yah kinda worried about those claims as the battery pack is quite small compared to other companies offerings
Lg hg2 in 10s3p configuration
Compared to the larger+more 21700 cells used in other boards
Either the hunters are really efficient
Or that we might end up with really short range/power output
We will see soon I guess

HG2’s?
I haven’t seen anything but fakes of those for a long time. I guess someone found a warehouse stash somewhere, hopefully not too old.

Not great performers so I hope that board keeps them under 15A/cell or so. The voltage sag will be terrible otherwise.

…end of cranky day venting…

Yah the battery specs are kinda worrisome
But without real world tests we won’t know for cerain. Let’s hope the boards just really efficient

Feedback coming in from people who tried the hunter board at the Web Summit event

Will post them as more come in

More boards are shipping out, I’ve asked them how far along they are with the orders
Will get back to everyone if I get an answer

Dang! They are just soo sick looking! I couldn’t wait(might’ve wiped out solidly on wowgo board with cloudwheels thanks to poor roads), and I picked up the ecomobl m24 pro, which has the closest build to this that I’ve seen. So whenever my hunter board does come in, I’ll have a benchmark to compare against!

They shipped more than half of the first 50 founder boards out

On track to deliver the 2nd batch as previously stated in their emails.

Rodolfo martins - who replied to the Esk8Cardiff YouTube hunter board first impression, says he’s one of the 50 founders and his has shipped as well.
He has even had his board customized with bindings to the board for his feet. They had to figure out how to do that and took a while to customize his board

That’s really cool! I was wondering about adding bindings…

If you don’t mind the wait you should tell customer service to set you up with bindings

My deck is being customised too, but just art! (non functional)

Can’t wait!

Check these bindings out

Hi guys, Pedro from Hunter Boards got their cto to answer some of my questions regarding their battery choice.
Pedro has been doing the customer service emails and Instagram himself apparently. We even had a nice discussion about the company and it’s fund raising process for expansion.

Very diligent CEO!

Any how here’s the reply

Hi Earl,

Hope you’re doing well. Sorry for the time it took to send you these answers. We’re all super focused on shipping.

Are our motors more efficient?

The main advantage of our hybrid motor is that it fits inside the wheel which is great for not getting scuffed like a direct drive motor but since the motor isn’t touching the wheel or tire like a hub motor is, it gets the same heat dissipation as a direct drive motor. In the end, we’ve got a motor with the best of the hub and the best of the direct-drive motor.

Why not have a bigger battery?

In relation to the battery, we could have gone with a bigger battery, but when designing the battery we went after what we consider the perfect balance between portability and performance (keeping the weight as low as possible is key since our goal is to build something people use daily). Also, since the battery is removable, if you want to ride a lot in one day you can simply take an extra battery with you. But as most people don’t do more than 30km without stopping at a point where they could charge we decided not to add that extra weight in batteries that you would always have to carry around (not when you decided to do it [extra battery]).

We feel very confident about the performance of our batteries and motors. Every Hunter Board is tested in a 29% incline hill before being shipped at Cruising riding mode (second weakest riding mode). The board has no problem climbing the hill (we can make a video for you to see this).

Battery sag

Regarding the battery sag, every battery is a victim of it. It’s true that a bigger battery has less sag for the same load but we really don’t feel the need to add more batteries because of the sag.

What bindings are those??

Pedro sent this clip to me, I’m assuming it’s the binding solution they setup for customers that customized their boards

Is it a different durometer?

Lemme see if i can get an answer on specs and availability

Are you sure you’re not working with them? You seem to spend lots of time in their workshop :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha I wish, then I can just take a board from them. This pic was taken off Pedro’s instagram post. The above pics were sent to me by Pedro when I asked him about the battery specs and shipping schedules

He’s been very responsive so far
