Hunterboards, a new take on e-skate design?

I see a couple more issues that concern me. I’ve circled them in red:

How much experience do you have with soldering or do you know someone with a lot of experience? Whoever soldered this left those wires too round. They should have been crushed down/flattened out to give them a larger contact patch. There’s another one on the other side as well, which is circled above, and it kind of looks like some sort of IC has come loose as well, in the center. Is that what I’m seeing? Can you get a better photo of the center where that IC is circled? This appears to be just the BMS (battery management system).

It looks like perhaps that thing was connected to both the top and bottom circuit boards and spreading them apart bent it. Idk tho.

I was wondering the same thing.

Certainly possible. I will grab more pictures when I get home and post. Thanks for the help!

This is the Battery Management System (BMS) board, without this working you can’t charge and for the sane ones amongst us, you also can’t discharge.

I wonder if that negative end rattling around in that board might’ve shorted some parts of the BMS, worst case scenario you battery cells (the individual cylindrical metal tubes with plastic surrounding them) could be drained, but if that’s not the case, this could be as simple as a BMS swap to a DALY or whatever you’d prefer. If for some miracle the BMS isn’t broken, then simply resoldering that joint could solve the problem, though I see some questionable PCBA designs (Busing two separate boards with IC legs as the connection for a high vibration, impact prone device such as esk8).

Hailing @Battery_Mooch

Don’t know what I can offer. If something came unsoldered then solder it back on. :slightly_smiling_face:

If something looks like it’s being bent when you peel apart a sandwiched set of PCB”s then stop peeling them apart!

Don’t connect or use anything that appears damaged. Otherwise it’s a great way to start a battery fire…an astoundingly violent and unpleasant experience.

Looking at that PCB sandwich with the neg wire soldering randomly to that busbar in there tho… seems unusual and hard to solder to properly, on top of a busbar like that.

Lesson learned. Don’t mess with things I know nothing about. I’ll count myself lucky for not burning my face off.

I think your best bet is to contact hunter boards, this really should be their problem, not yours. If they don’t fulfill their warranty claims then those claims should be taken down

If they refuse to fulfill the warranty then do a chargeback tbh

After posting here and elsewhere. They have now responded via email. So hopefully they take care of it.

Good to know you’re getting sorted! Miguel is a great guy but they may have had their hands full with the new bike they are launching (not that that serves as an excuse though)

This just arrived to my inbox!

Now all they have to do to complete the package is to release a 4x4 version and figure out a way to get at least a 12s battery in the board!

You mean start selling them with bolt on bases for any deck + battery :gear:

I designed a remote case/sleeve that can be 3D printed for the Hunter board. Basically, I wanted to give it some extra grip and avoid scratching the bottom of the remote when taking out the battery. I replied this on the ‘3d-printables-for-esk8’ topic, thinking it’d be cool to share this in the main Hunter board topic.
