Homage to the heritage

LoL then I just must be dumb, because these are the same exact design, just rendered at two different angles.

Right???!?

Saw the beauty in person yesterday and I was flabbergasted, such a premium look and feel. This is definitely the future of high end decks

I also stood on it with socks on and the spikes are not too sharp to hurt you or anything. They actually feel kinda nice, they give a very therapeutic feeling, which I bet brings some bodily advantages while carving

I was convinced that the black underside of the deck could be used to add some character to Brian’s beautifully clean white rug.

I was also keen to demonstrate the grippiness of the grip and its resilience to wear-and-tear by dragging the soles of my Vans over the studs.

Fortunately for Brian, only the deck’s grippiness and resilience were proven.

I really appreciate the complement, sir. …and, yes, it really does. Even more so in the flesh, if I do say so myself.

Excited to be finally running some practical tests on this badboy tomorrow!

Shout out to @LexHoja for the trust and support in loaning me his Flux! :fist_right: :fist_left:

I’m gonna be pulling some hard G’s in various different shoes/soles. I’m also gonna measure my reflexology readings before and after to quantify the therapeutic benefits.

Anything else you’d suggest or wanna know?

Awesome! cant wait to hear the report.

And oh im sure the therapeutic benefits will be off the charts. I can already imagine a future where the board and the rider become one. We ride barefoot and control the board naturally through the metal studs on the deck and the nerve endings in our feet. You can feel every component in the board and know its state. The future is looking bright  :joy:

Keep meaning to come back and feedback after the test runs…

I ride with a beat up pair of Vans MTE with the standard waffle sole. I compared the feel of the grip across three different boards with studs, frit and griptape. I’d say that the stud grip felt comparable to the frit when standing and trying to drag and twist my feet around - interesting particularly since it has a far less dense surface coverage.

When I dived into a hard carve, I was conscious how much foot pressure was going down onto the area along the inside rail and how much is lost on the outside (which incidentally made me think of how effective Dope Grip is as it accommodates changes in pressure without changing the degree of contact so much). The Flux doesn’t have a very pronounced concave so I think it feels like it needs a very solid grip more than other decks might.

With the stud placement as it currently stands - with generous un-studded margins along each rail - that leaves you increasingly dependent on a narrow glossy, waxed area when you carve, which isn’t very confidence inspiring. Future decks will have studs spanning further out towards the rails and the tips.

On the whole, I was very satisfied but there are certainly some improvements I can make to help bring the practicality up in line with the aesthetics.

I did some broader tests with a range of different shoes & soles and the results were really eye-opening. That subject probably deserves its own thread so I’ll get to that in a bit.
