is there even a eskate company thats not dangerous tho

lmao ‘yes we will agree to refund you fully no problem!’ Only after you file a CC charge back that forces them to do it regardless

plenty of small companies/ one man shops a like @BenjaminF, @TheRef, @DerelictRobot, @Boardnamics

but they’re getting their ass handed by supplylines

i think,

it varies from person to person

Don’t get me wrong. I have no opinion on TB as I never dealt with them in full…

I just find it bad business practice if your site says something is in stock when it’s actually not… you email the customer stating there is a minimum 30 day lead time on said items asking them what they would like to do about the order they placed

Customer emails back asking for options and does not hear from the business for a full 3 days!!..

My thought would have been to email the customer saying we are very sorry but we are unable to get said items you have ordered here is a refund in full sorry for your inconvenience!

Not have the customer file a claim to get the business to respond…

Just my opinion

I mean many esk8 companies do this because they’re too small to actually deal with inventory management. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is

Only the bad ones. It’s something that shouldn’t be tolerated. (exception being stuff that’s made to order, obviously)

i’ve seen plenty small company websites do just fine with showing when stuff is in or out of stock

even then, if there’s an oos item and it shows as in stock, they’re quick to respond and offer a solution (thank you Frontier sugar Works, love that shit i’m a whore for that stuff)

I agree with @Lee_Wright. It’s not hard for one person in a small company to take a peek at the shelves while having their first cup of coffee to check if they are low or out of stock of something. Things like turning the crate/box upside down when empty can make noticing these things easy.

Or having a “stock card” that gets pulled out of the bottom of the box/crate when the last item is removed so the card can be tossed onto someone’s desk to let them know that they are out of stock. Easy to do.

But a quick walk-around of the stock area each morning is crazy simple to do for a small company. Not doing it is just being lazy and putting customer service/satisfaction last.

Not doing this just hurts the bottom line so it’s even more confusing why it ever happens!

Our ecommerce site has stock notification built in. Can set it to notify you when you have X left in stock. It’s not always easy but yeah if it happens as a mistake it can be easily sorted out after.

shopify makes inventory management stupid easy. you tell it how many you have, it sells until it sees that amount as zero, then marks the product as “sold out” and won’t sell more unless you allow backordering deliberately.

this is basic.

Lol…fuck off (politely)

I passed 3weeks fixing shopify’s stupid excuse of an inventory. Albeit we do have a shiton of inventory. If a bundle has a mistake for a while, your numbers are fucked. If people change things in their orders, you’re fucked. If you changed a screw but forgot about it in one of the 283 bundles, the entire board goes out of stock and you have to figure out why while losing sales

But I would suggest strongly getting inventory planner (app add-on for shopify)
Lead times
Planning
Best Sellers
Dead stock
Sale forecasts
And best of all, 24-48h direct customer service (god I needed that one)
Oh and you can catalog all your suppliers into it and pass orders with the click of your mouse in less than 30seconds

Please tell me more about these “bundles” and their stockkeeping of the items contained in the bundle. Because this is exactly what I have been looking for for my PCB kits, and have not been able to find an app that suits my needs well. Do you use an app for the bundles? If so, can you tell me which one?

This also looks like a really useful app, thanks for the suggestion!

we do and i can. youre never gonna believe the name of this app…
its called Bundles

:joy:
basically we have a storefront category and an inventory category
inventory has every single item in the shop ( literally anything that can become something sold)
lets make it an easy example

store sells a ‘‘wera toolkit’’
inventory has every single bit and item to make a toolkit
Bundles creates a list for ‘‘wera toolkit’’ using the items and quantities i set.
someone buys a toolkit, shopify links to bundle and simultaneously removes 1 from ‘‘wera toolkit’’ in the store category while also removing 1 from every part in inventory that bundle linked to that kit

its a very simplified way of saying it btw.
if something has one slight change, it requires its own bundle to make that difference in the system (ex.:blue vs red baseplate)
i spent a very long time on it. my realworld version has 283 bundles.
