Hangers with end nut vs shoulder bolts

For sure! If you contact him, he will try and find a way to make your wish come true
Its like he always just want to make us happy ^^

(Also we have heard about precision kahua hanger and BP last spring ā€¦ )

They sell just the hangers on the site.

I have never ordered them because I donā€™t like attaching motor mounts to round hangers. The Kahua hanger is round ONLY in the one place I donā€™t want a hanger to be round: right where the mount attaches. :unamused:

I know a few people running their mounts and Iā€™ve never heard of complaints of slipping.
I think them being precision made for one another makes a big difference

Few drops of retaining compound on the hanger before slipping on mount should make it pretty solid as well?

Yes, was wondering the same but ā€¦ itā€™s surprisingly strong!
Yes, the precision is insane! Forged, then CNC !! Super strong.
(I need to rebuild something with this, now the summer Madsurf setup is almost at the end of the season)

Could you please explain that slipping issueā€¦ What happens and whats the reason for that ?

Ride a skateboard and youā€™ll find out quickly

Itā€™s easier to clamp an object with square edges than it is on a rounded hanger.

@Skunk Thanks man, the slip of the motor mount, I seeā€¦ I was wondering if there was something else :+1:

Or a properly designed hanger with actual metal holding the motor in place when you slam on the brakes.

Im a fan of shoulder bolt.

Because

  • Metric
  • I no longer need to carry a skate tool just Allen keys
  • flexibility
  • I have had more luck with wheels staying on than with nylocks, nylocks need to be replaced regularly.
  • they look cleaner in the wheel.

I donā€™t like

  • you need to be careful not to fuck the threads in the hanger up or get the axel seized.
  • if you use in wet conditions they rust more easily.
  • still paranoid about healside front wheel coming off though it never came loose yet. I tighten that wheel just a tad more than the rest.

They have to come out a fair way before the wheel can come off so you would probably notice. They rears I donā€™t think can come off with belts.

CorrosionX makes your esk8 stink and I didnā€™t like it at all.

I just rub oil on it.

@haggyboard.timo Why is it round where the motor mount attaches? That seems like a really poor choice. Itā€™s not round anywhere elseā€¦

Round profile has advantages and disadvantages : one thing that is really helpful is that you can fine tune the angle easily.

The disadvantage is that you have to ensure that the bolt clamping the motor mount to the hanger is very tight and kept tightā€¦

For the avio drive Jeff has three separate bolts that tighten the drive system to the hanger allowing for all kinds of different angles. It is rock solid and you can put an Elefant on it without the mount moving .

Important is to check if everything is tight as it should beā€¦ a bit like a pilot checking the plane before and after each flight

If I had to check my skate before and after each ride, Iā€™d tear it apart and rebuild it, because itā€™s essentially defective.

I guess if you use your board as a toy that MIGHT be remotely acceptable but as a tool, it defeats the purpose of having built it.

I agree about fine-tuning the angle, but it also gives an easy path to a common failure. There is no ROI in round motor mount clamps.

I think it boils down to personal preference. I understand your valid point. I always like to check my stuff regardless.
