That’s more like it lol

In that case, that’s excellent. I suppose this is part of the most recent firmware updates

These are the default parameters of the vesc firmware, I didn’t make any changes. The DV4s only modified the shunt resistance and added switch button.

Do the new D100s have a new abs max current? The D100 currently has 150a right

Yeah it was 250 amps from the unit I had

Just something I noticed with my new D100s.

Braking is strange, it won’t brake to a complete stop, I’m using smart reverse when I compare to my other vesc’s they will brake to a complete stop then activate reverse.

This d100s just as you get to the point of stopping it releases and free rolls for a split second then activates reverse so it never actually comes to a complete stop.

I’ve messed around and tried the same remote(vx4 ppm+uart) on the other vesc’s and it’s working fine … Works as it should. I’ve tried current with brake and the same outcome.

I have the same motor, pulley vesc config on the boards I tested with and I used the same remote and receiver in each.

Maybe it’s a maker thing?? This is the first one I’ve owned, so I’m not sure about it.

Anyone noticed the same thing?

Where did you test this and how fast were you going? At low speed I definitely wouldn’t expect complete stop, more at high speed.

I’m on the prior D100 and have always used smart reverse, I don’t think I’ve ever paid enough attention about a complete stop. But just the stuff I mentioned about low speed vs high speed. But I have never felt oh I couldn’t stop from running into something. Hope this helps.

Yeah I tested this riding from 20kph to 25kph coming to a halt. Like I said it’s noticeable comparing to my other vesc’s. They act the same and will halt, this d100s acts differently and it could just be a maker thing.
At first I thought it was the remote, but I tested it in each board.

The only difference between the setups is the d100 is running 13s and the others are 12s but I can’t see that being the issue of they are all running the same numbers.
All the vesc’s are running the same firmware versions 5.3.

Hmm ok yeah that’s interesting I’ll have to see when my D100s comes in. Have you tried playing with ramp time?

Have you tried messing with your motor current max brake? I believe that’s the low speed braking adjustment but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Frame corrected me below

motor current = low speed torque
motor regen = low speed brake

battery current = high speed torque
battery regen = high speed brake

Thanks. I had something saved from this forum (can’t remember who posted it) that gave the info I did, so I’ll have to delete that one

Yeah maybe ramp time for smart reverse is too long?

I’ve never had that happen on vesc before outside of bldc and current brake no reverse

Yeah I’ve tried playing with the settings, I’ve not come across it before either.

But like I said before it brakes no matter what speed, but right before the point of coming to a stop it releases the brake so you don’t actually stop completely.

I always reduce the ramp time to 2.7s and battery regen is at 30a which works fine for my other boards.
I can just ignore it but it was just something I noticed straight up.

Have you tried other modes like Hyst reverse to see if it will come to a complete stop?

I didn’t try that yet. Just smart reverse and current with brake.
Just more that the unit I have seems to act differently than other vesc’s.

But I’ll give it a crack anyway this weekend.

Yeah i’ve seen this on many different escs, not just makerx. I think it’s a smart reverse bug, not esc specific. I’ve seen it on stormcores.

Ok, good to know thanks.

Try messing with the Direction switch ERPM setting.

Ok, thanks. Do you suggest lowering the default 4000rpm?

just mess with it and see if it affects anything. i hvent actually tried it, but I think it’ll make a diff
