Currently the mounting holes of DV4s and the latest DV6s are not standardized, but we will do so in the next update.
And what standard will they eventually apply to?
@ShutterShock i mean the tiny dv4 which Iāve had about 2 months? Same form factor but holes differently spaced to how it says on the website.
Uniform size with DV6s
What exactly are the changes in your custom firmware, for the dv6s or d100s.
What do i need to change manually if i were to use stock vesc tool firmware instead.
Also any issues using the d100s on just 12s?
I thought from the DV6s page on the Maker-X site, as well as the firmware download page, that the DV6s does not require custom firmware.
I donāt know if theyāre intentionally or unintentionally dodging firmware questions.
The DV6s have the same firmware as the PROļ¼ base on VESC6, 2 shunts. D100 is based on 100250 firmware, also 2 parallel shunts. Both added button switches.
With custom firmware, you donāt need to change anything manually.
No issue on 6-21s
After incorporating the VESC firmware, I canāt easily modify them. So I prefer to use the download method.
That is not the answer to my question. What are the changes you made in the custom firmware vs stock.
I do not want to be reliant on a vendor updating the firmware.
What if you ever stop supporting the product? What if thereās a critical bug that got fixed on stock firmware but not yet on yours, then i am at your mercy of releasing an update.
These obviously arenāt problems that happen everyday. I just want peace of mind.
This is what was modified. Shunt, current limit, switch button, and firmware name.
So essentially it sounds like in a few years after the product is old and unsupported, if you accidentally flash firmware onto it, then itās probably a goner.
If you provided the source code for the firmware changes then this wouldnāt be an issue, as then we could just see what was changed. In fact, since VESC is a GPL licensed project, you actually MUST provide the source code for any modifications made. And the easiest way to comply is to just push these changes to the main vesc tool branch anyway⦠![]()
No custom firmware also means less issues with customer support.
so the d100s, a brand new vesc, will not even get 6.00, 6.02 or later?

and why is it unstable? Is it because of the hardware design?
The new version is working, but itās more likely to trigger ABS faults. Iāll do more testing.
Can you tell us more about that load test rig? Iām very curious.
Very nice, thatās exactly what we like to see. I still canāt wrap my head around how tiny this thing is
The heat performance is impressive too. 120a for quite a long time. Although you only had single side, so maybe it would not last as long with 2 sides
Two 6374 motors twisted against each other. After three-phase rectification, it is loaded with a tungsten filament lamp.
