That’s not a bug, that’s by design. The proximity of the reply is indication.
It also won’t let you quote an entire post because it is understood that you are replying to them in general to their post.

They seem to have changed their philosophy. There was a point when it would alert you and then remove the quote if it was a quote of the entire post.

Bad design if I’ll be honest. If someone comes back to a discussion months down the track (common for a forum like this) things can get really confusing really quickly
agree - i didnt expect that last post to go through but i’m really glad it did because it felt good to get it off my chest and beat @JohnnyMeduse to the punch
