Supposedly yes. All the unity issues were FW related apart from dead Bluetooth modules and blown antispark switches. I didn’t like the 5.02 FW with my unity (experienced weirdness, explained in the 2 threads about the v5 FW) and reverted back to unity FW 23.46 as it’s been 100% stable for me.
Thank you man.
That’s disappointing, Guess this means I should put an external antispark to be safe and should use a switch on the BMS ?
I wonder if this means I can’t use Push to Start.
Nah I’d just wait until/if it blows and just use a loopkey. I have 2 unities running for over 2 years cumulatively with no issues.
Lol I hate those with a iring passion lol.
Is there a reason we see blown antispark a more in the builder world than seemingly in the prebuilt word or is it just more reported on here than out there ?
I have always wondered about his too. Blown on/off switches are very rare in the prebuilt world. You don’t really hear about them. I wonder why
Lower voltage in prebuilts.
12s on my Kaly… hmmmmmmmmm
I totally feel ya… I made the switch to 5.02… tried the HFI craze… faaaked around with the settings and the awful app for a few weeks… I’m reverting back to 23.46 at this very moment…
Is it due to lower voltages being handled by the ESC? A lot of the budget boards are running 12s2p using 40Ts and VCT6’s
The Kaly is not what I had in mind when using the word prebuilts.
In any case BMSs with e-switches are more reliable compared to the usual antispark switch.
I guess many prebuilts use discharge BMSs with e-switches.
The most popular higher end prebuilt right now is the Evolve and it uses 10S with a discharge BMS
I myself had at least 5 Anti Spark Switches / Modules go just randomly.
I run 12S Configuration.
Since then I just don’t even bother - make a nice loopkey and be sure to have something reliable that also can handle loads of current without needing to worry if a MOSFET Decides to stay permanently open or closed (had both failure modes and the permanently open is no fun if you want to brake your board downhill)
I haven’t had any issues running 5.1 on my unity. Well mostly, I still don’t have motor temp lmfao. 5.2 is getting it worked out I believe.
Just for clarities sake, I believe you mean V5.01 and 5.02
Tomato tomato. Hehe yeah sorry, was just about falling asleep while typing that.
Not sure if you’re talking VESC FW, but if you are there’s definitely a 5.1 and 5.2.
I’m not saying someone is right and someone is wrong… I’m just saying you’re both talking about 2 different FWs here…
Welcome to the VESCtm blackhole of versioning…
Why does mine say 5.1 in the VESC Tool? Mind you this is for Stormcore.
BECAUSE YOUR’E ON UNITY
But I’m not.
