Foam/padded Grip tape

Here’s my diy foam grip tape

I used neoprene which worked out okay but I would suggest poron and/or a solid design like @JeffyJ .

Here’s some wear and tear after 2 months. This is neoprene.

Just make a stylish cutout around your anti sink plate. Elevate it to match the foams height, use longer bolts also.

tf dude, how many burnouts a day? Thats some serious wear on those tires for 2 months

Maybe 9 of these since day one. Wouldn’t dare a real burnout🥲. The 6374s smoke these tires after one pull as seen above

Bruh you are afraid to pull a burnout but do this? I’d be so paranoid that my bord would fuck off into the woods

I don’t think foamgrip is available in sheets or rolls anywhere, i’d suggest just buying thin foam sheets with adhesive and putting general griptape over it. Might even be cheaper too!

that poron stuff isn’t cheap, which thickness would you think is better, there is also several compression rating any idea which is better for us?

3-4mm thick. Not sure on compression rating, but the yellow xrd formula is the best for impact dampening. Ive had trouble finding it, however.

I want to cover the hole board in different pre cut pieces and use some glow in the dark epoxy in cracks so it gives it this kind of look.

Nice, how do you reckon it would be with standing on it plus the sticking of the led sheet and then the grip to the sheet.

I would still epoxy the the strip light in

honestly not sure, and i don’t know how it would react long term when its being step on and applying lateral force on it

I love this idea. I did glow pigment on my old deck, applied on surfboard pads. Was a pretty rough job, but looked like glowing dragon scales. Pro tip: get a flashlight that has blacklight mode. Can charge the pigment up fully in no time. Cant remember what brand i used, top seller on amazon at the time i think, but a 30 minute skate to work in the sun stayed glowing for a good 8 hours, too.

My biggest problem is I have it in my head that I’m going to do it now.

So one way or another it shall be done.

Sounds good, you have any photos?

I think I still prefer the epoxy pigment route as I will be able change the colours up slightly.

Not ones i could easily retrieve xD broken a few phones since then. I think epoxy-pigment is the most tried and true method. I have, however, seen boards with cutouts filled with epoxy, and led’s inside the enclosure, which comes out really fucking cool.

Seen these used as headlights and tail lights. Could work as side markers also. I’d personally cut a groove out of the deck to seamlessly incorporate these into the design.

The Alibaba pad would probably work best in the middle or each end to avoid wear.

I was thinking of using an led strip around the side of the deck cutting a grove out but that was using a multi coloured strip. This would look a lot better though.

I always did Lokton and big wheels, I’ve never been convinced that padded/foam griptape was the answer that big wheels or pneumies didn’t solve in a much bigger way. Lokton works.

It was an AWD deck but just ran a 2wd hub to experiment with vesc based escs ready for my next build.

At a guess 3-4mm thick. I got a big roll from Bunnings which is a hardware store in Australia, so not much use to you sorry.
