I’ve ridden with it once… maybe not for long enough to form a strong opinion but it’s certainly very noticeably different just to stand on.
I generally steer away from that stuff tbh. My thinking is that it’s pointless buying precision components and tuning out slop and wobbles only to introduce a layer of foam under your feet.
I wouldn’t assume that - microvibrations make their way through stiff decks and straight into your feet
I’m simply saying there should be a noticeable benefit, but these microvibrations are accentuated on smaller wheels. If you have something comfy like Onsra wheels or big wheels, you won’t notice it as much
Foam grip definitely dampens vibration, quite a bit in my experience, but even more importantly it locks your feet in a bit more than regular grip. I made my own using a yoga mat, and perforated clear griptape once. Can get some pretty cool graphics on it that way, too.
What you are looking for is called poron which you can buy in rolls with self adhesive backing, you can just buy a roll of grip tape and stick it on top.
Dope grip kinda sucks too. Its sharp. Very very sharp. Ruined shirts. Cut me. But some black sray paint did right away with that, and upon soaking into the foam, also made the cushion effect better.
I dont want a fresh wound or ruined shirt every time i mall grab, tahini bro. The fact that its foam and your feet sink in adds plenty of grip, it does not need to be that sharp. But, its all good, cuz maybe some people like that, and painting it fixes that nice and easy. Also, dope grip uses some rather inferior foam. Poron is significantly better for the application, imo. Still want to try sorbothane as grip some day, as its rather unbeatable in vibration dampening. Pretty sure poron is better for impact dampening, though.
