Dude that’s awesome. To get that result you could also use special crackling paint, then put glass frit grip over it. Or normal black paint and scratch the cracks into it

That look great, I’m not sure foam is the best material for this use case tho.
Depending on how well the epoxy bind with the foam you may end up with weird gaps around the foam pieces. Maybe a stiff material would work better, like precut CF or thin 3d printed parts?
The plan was to cut my pieces up first and then draw tracing lines. I would then remove the foam then ream out a few mm and then fill with the resin and then build it up with a few layers.
I would then stick the foam down once done.

Not sure what crackling paint is, but not using the padded grip tape is also a possibility.
I was also thinking off doing the the small red lava river lines then staining the deck with a nice dark stain so you can see the grain then use frit and epoxy on top.
