Flipsky is a bad actor, you probably shouldn't be giving them your money.

I just checked; those Apex motors are too long.

#ismoketheflipsky.
I hate flipsky, but i did just buy one of their zbms clones.
I tried for 8 months to get a real zbms.
Also i can get products shipped faster from China than i can from Joey.
Still waiting on torquepack nickle from an order i placed a month ago.

Let’s be real (and were on the same page):

Very few folks in this hobby actually give a single shit about the individuals involved creating the open source technologies that make it a reality.

Something outright stolen can show up on the market for $20 cheaper and the masses will gobble it up without hesitation.

There is no honor left in this hobby but for a few passionate folks, the rest are here for a quick buck. If anyone cared even slightly, people like JayPo or Flipsky would have been run out long ago.

Our track record simply doesn’t support the desired outcome here.

You guys wanna buy some conflict free unities?

Easiest way to quiet your Flipsky motors down is to take all the magnets out. Saves a bit of weight on your board too.

No need, just ride fast and far enough and they yeet themselves

Gotta ask the question, its driving me a little nuts…

With things like >THIS< happening as a known thing…

Just why is it people continue to use the VX4? I would consider many that have reported issues (like the one linked) among the more experienced here and yet seemigly happy to continue ti use a known dangerous part.

I find this part the most confusing, if itbwas a truck with a known axle issue that caused it to snap, you wouldnt use it right?

For me personally I wanted something with telemetry (until I got my Davega installed). I had not heard of any interference issues the way I had (the opposite actually) so I didn’t expect it at all. I’m going to update the firmware on it when I can from v1.1 to v1.2. I’m planning on changing over to a Puck soon as I have a backup one here and have my Davega installed. Had never experienced an interference/full throttle event before like that and can’t say I ever want to have one again!

Tempted to say Flipsky are a bunch of cunts but they lack the depth and warmth

That’s why they invented the term ā€˜shitcunt’

One big caveat with this one, there was an aftermarket throttle installed. Definitely makes it murky whats at fault here
I believe that is the first vx4 full throttle event here on the forum.

I haven’t seen many people complain about issues with the VX4, besides the interference with other remotes… I wonder if it’s just a firmware thing.

Yep, agreed. Hard to say if it was the VX4 or perhaps the 3DS thumbwheel.

I remember seeing cutout issues right from the release… that may well have been during the dark facebook days tho and not so much here… not %100 on that.

On release the VX4 was a shit show, there was a thread on it here. Once they updated fw it made it way better. I don’t recall seeing any full throttle events but I guess someone gets to be first. Yay? As mentioned though, mine has a 3DS wheel on it. I don’t think that would affect anything but worth noting. I’m still on v1.1 cause I’m PC-less and can’t update to v1.2. 3DS has videos of his vx4’s losing signals prior to update, and work fine after. Esk8 roulette

Interesting.
After selling a lot of these. We have not had one person contact us with problems.

I was going to use flipsky in my build, glad I didnt. Heard a lot of horror stories about the motors.

Thats fucked!

I’m late to this party but…

I would, absolutely. We all should IMO.
Lack of availability cannot be used as an excuse for ripping off someone by stealing certain design details and the appearance and name of the product.

Notice that I didn’t say circuit design/topology. The two main circuits in the ZBMS have indeed been around for years. The appearance, connector types and locations, presence of LEDs, overall color and packaging, and the ZBMS name are all unique to Joe’s product.

I haven’t reverse engineered the ZBMS’ schematic but there could also be mods made by Joe to the publicly available designs that are used by ZBMS.

This is all what was stolen and which is completely unacceptable, especially stealing the ZBMS name.

The most frustrating thing is that FS could have easily modified the circuit to match their preferences/priorities (ease of manufacture, parts costs, etc) and created their own product, along with creating their own BMS name. Instead, disgustingly, they cloned all they could (skipping stuff that added cost like the temp monitoring Joe does) and stole the ZBMS name just to make a few $$ at someone else’s expense.

Just my personal thoughts on it all. I realize and respect that others feel differently.

Just to be clear, not at all singling your incident out at all

It’s more of an overall bewilderment that this community, (above all others I know of) seemingly accepts the shit show that is Flipsky… in SO many ways they do not deserve the support of this community yet seem to just ā€˜get away with it’

For my irrelevant 2c, they wont change until the bottom line does and that’s unlikely to happen quickly, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t start here. Education about not only products but the companies themselves is one of the great things about this forum and with all the legitimate developers that spend their time here… well… I feel it devalues their significant efforts to let slide the ethos of this company.
