interested to see how this works out for you guys…
oh… you’re stretching 200mm dia tires… never mind the below text:
I’ve never been successful in stretching a 155mm-160mm x 50mm to 75mm… I’ve blown out a few tubes and the tire sidewalls are too stiff, and not designed to go that wide…
sorry @Nacho, I didn’t give you aqwik response, but I had some shit I had to deal with today
about the most, width (hub wise) using existing tires is in the 50-55mm hub width. science has shown that stretching the hub width 15-18mm is about as wide as you can go…
the kaly helcats are a nice option but too wide for low profile tires… @75mm (guessing I don’t have them yet)I was excited when ernesto mentioned he was making these, but then science and experimentation happened… I’m still waiting for my hellcat hubs to see what can be done… but I honestly don’t have a good feeling…
as an aside, I know a guy in the kenda racing division, and I’ve talked with him about a 145-150mm dia. x 50-75mm width tire, but I’m afraid presently there is just not enough interest or demand…
if we were to get a 100 guys to buy a set of 5, that’s only 500 tires, and yeah there are future buyers for replacements, but the market just isn’t big enough to go into production… maybe in the future.
timo had a local mfr. create his haggy tires (inova or something, memory escapes me) maybe if there was enough interest a smaller mfr. could be persuaded to take up the task. But we’re still really a niche consumer.
so Nacho… you can see where this is currently at, and why I didn’t answer with a quick answer.
EDIT:
I’m not really stoked on the TB AT tires stretched… the hard chine in the sidewall tends to lead to crack following and the like… I’m presently using the TB AT rites at design width…
