Esk8 SoCal Outlaw Series

@MoeStooge @RipTideSports
I’m going to put this all in one place for easier reference and summarize at the end:
These are the kart tracks in So. California that I have contacted so far:

Apex Kart Racing - Racecourse

(951) 940-0701

Grange Motor Circuit - Go-kart track

Willow Springs International Raceway - Car racing track
3500 75th St W
Rosamond, CA 93560

Calspeed Fontana
CalSpeed Karting Center - Go-kart track
9300 Cherry Ave
Fontana, CA 92335
This go-kart track near the Auto Club Speedway rents sports karts with speeds of up to 80 mph.
(951) 506-9363

as you can see all/most are configurable to change the difficulty, and length of the race tracks, most all have active carting on them, and most all are rentable and or sharable during practice sessions. Most karting Associations do not wish to share track when they have an ongoing race. Some associations can be very friendly and approachable, while others are elitest in their mindset.

Only Calspeed Fontana told me that their insurance would NOT allow eSk8s, note this was mentioned fairly quickly without a moments hesitation, I’d cross them off our list,

WillowSprings mentioned their kart track has a very rough surface presently, they have in the oast hosted and allowed electric bicycle races on their track, however, my contact Autumn relayed that she had to contact her insurance company to see it they would cover eSk8s racing and will get back to me.
Cost may be a factor for those that are not WillowSpings members ($25) track rental 1/2 day closed course is $400 and insurance is $200 (total for the facility, not per person)if their insurance will cover. If skaters are Willowsprings members insurance covers them, and for a shared session, non-closed race track the price is only admission into the facility.

I am still awaiting callbacks from the other facilities, but my guess is that Adams in Riverside or Grange in Apple Valley/Victorville will be our best options, I have only raced a few limited times at Apex Perris and don’t really have a feeling for their current situation and stance.

I’ll edit this post as updates occur.

Cheers

Yeah, thanks for the thought, mentioned “Streets of Landcaster” and the shared kart experience. I also mentioned young/smart affluent professional people with full gear, and equipment cost rivaling small racing motorcycles, and all having prior racing experience…

Don’t let me down! hahahaha

In my opinion, Grange, and Adams will be our best bets, both are my favorite tracks, both have off-road sections for supermoto racing (if so inclined), and are both used to unconventional vehicles and are easier to work with… both of these track supported supermoto racing in its infancy and continue their support today even as most go-cart tracks have kicked us off their facilities!

EDIT:
Given enough time I would have personally taken my eSk8 to Adams and Grange for a face to face, and showed them what’s up. however I’m personally neck-deep in work, prepping for the baja 1000, and time does not allow.
I in fact will be leaving for Mexico in about a week to begin pre-running, and this year the 1000 conflicts with this race and I’ll not even be able to attend this eSk8 race…

Thank you very much for all your help on this @kook!!!

Excellent job, we really appreciate all your efforts. I for one would like to encourage you when time allows to continue to pursue the venues. I think it would be a bummer to arrange for an date that conflicts with your schedule after you did all the legwork. For this current outlaw series, we have several fallback and proposed venues on the table that will work so it may be time to ask “what is next” @MoeStooge. Track racing, is my vote!

Thanks and YES, I’ll still and try and make this happen for Nov. 17th, and I will 100% continue to spread the esK8 word to these tracks, go out and meet them in person (when I get back from Mexico) I’d like nothing better than to take my esK8 out on some of these tracks and RIP!

If It doesn’t work out for this next race, we’ll work on it for future events!

Like I said, If you cannot make the 17th date, let’s shelve till when you are back from the 1000

most of these tracks like Adams, Grange and Willow if you join their “club” you can go out and ride the track all day mid-week for like $25… yeah i wanna pursue this!

@kook would you mind starting a thread on the track prospects you highlighted above so we can build momentum? I was recently map searching and I cam across a test track owned by Honda in the middle of nowhere that could be fun. I think we could have a lot of good times with this!

There are lots of proving grounds like that out in the Dez… GM has one out between Baker and Stovepipe that I know of because an EX-GF was a GM engineer… but they’re like area 51 you’ll never get close to those, they drive the unmarked shit you see occasionally on trucks with only the windows exposed…

There is a track out in AZusa, by the rock-pile, I can’t for the life of me remember the name, but you could check out there if you could find it!

Hyundai’s track outside California City also

Porsche does it for bike races… But that’s gotta take a ton of :yen:
