Aaaaaah and dumb me didn’t know there was acrylic coating, I was dead sure everyone here who was applying conformal coating was trapping the electronics in epoxy…
Is it wrong to do the conformal coating and then use silicone? I’ve got epoxy to use if it’s better
Heatshrink the whole thing after, of course
Honestly I have no idea on what’s better ; How do you plan on using silicon thought ? Over connectors/cable terminals ?
I pretty much use it in place where others would use dielectric grease (I think that’s what it’s called?)
I just cover the conformally coated bit and then a little of the housing so it doesn’t just break off when it’s bent after it cures
Photo(I didn’t put it on the housing in this one but it looks like this when it’s finished):
Ok I didn’t even know this was a thing for making connectors more reliable, thanks for the new info
Now I think if you really wanna go hardcore on that connector, you drop drips of epoxy in first, apply heatshrink and keep the cable side open, pour more epoxy through remaining hole, close, let that thing cure and voilà, unbreakable XT90
(Just pushing the logic to extreme)
I never said anything about more reliable, I’m just a giant wuss and can’t stomach the idea of shorts on my board from my own mistakes lol. So ymmv
Just make sure if you do this to let the silicone cure for awhile… I’ve got no idea if its conductive when wet, so this board is gonna be sitting to dry for a few days before I feel confident enough to even program my VESCs
Can you get it to cure faster with a heatgun or a hairdryer tho ?
I can’t say for sure, but it seems to work?
Idk how the whole curing process works but I would worry that it somehow prevents the inner silicone from curing then again that’s probably just me being a worry wart
What about a UV curing chamber then ? You get an empty can of paint (metal one), full mirror tape all around inside, one strip of UV leds, one hole, you plug and voilà. You’ve thrown 20$ in a can.
That sounds like it would work, but idk how silicone cures, with UV… Air… Etc?
Have you ever seen Louis Rossman on YouTube? I like the idea of that ‘green stuff’ he uses. Aparently it’s safe to use on electronics and it cures in seconds with UV.
I just havnt put in the effort to see what’s it’s called/ do research about it… Yet
Do not yell at the people in the street. Pretty often they HAVE to work. Esk8 can be used for commute.
Many many doctors in my country have been insulted, assaulted and sued on their way back to home.
Lol I understand that but I live in a very rural area and NO ONE that is esk8ing near me is commuting. I’ve actually only seen one other person riding a board near me ever.
I ride to local farms to get eggs and meat for reference
Same. This is why I get so pumped
On topic : I wanna build myself a 4k resin printer. There’s Aliexpress 10 years anniversary and 4k LCD screens up to 15.6" are pretty cheap compared to normal. That’s circa 340x190mm printing bed with silence and super speed. Resins are expensive but cheat material since end of 2019… But I don’t wanna start another project and throw hundreds in it right now… But, but it would tremendously help to have this new tool for other on going projects too…
AAAAAAAAAAAAAH fuck me.
Don’t do it man. Not yet. Turn back from the light! Hold back!
I’m trying so hard!!!
Go ride it off bro
Just have sex. The world could end tomorrow.
is there going to be a baby boom 9mo to a year from now?
Ye…also a huge divorce boom
