DIY Onewheel Hoverboard

I used inner tube. I just had to file the edge off of the HB wheel/motor lip and the valve steam cleared just fine.

Hey Guys,
It’s an awesome work you are all doing here.
I want to build a Onewheel too, using an old Hoverboard.
So I got all parts and started putting things togehter, rewiring the gyroscope just as said in thedirits video “DIY onewheel from used hoverboard build video”… At least I thought so…

I plugged in the Battery to test the setup, but after pushing the powerbutton something was blown.
For my next try, I would like to know, how to do it the right way. Hopefully you can help me.

I cut the green and blue wire from the gyroscope on non-Battery-Side und spliced it to the green and blue wire on Battery-Side gyroscope, as it can be seen on the first picture.
On the other pictures you can see the elements, which were blown and smoking.

I hope you can unterstand my problem, my English isn’t very well.

Thank you and kind regards
Robin

I love the idea of having an aluminum wheel. Should provide much better cooling than the 3d printed hub.

Do you have a link or some good photos of how this wheel looks without the HB motors mounted?

Sorry for the delay. Aircraft wheels look like this and the are very light. I have some more spares in my hangar attic if anyone wants them?? I should of took some pictures of the machining6.00x6 wheel half process.

Hello bplaa.yai,
I really like the idea of the size of the Burris tire relative to the rim width, if possible can you give me a web link to find it. Thank you in advance and have a good trip.

Well I wouldn’t call this an idea, as it’s how the original design was intended. For a while I thought of modifying the rim design to accommodate narrower and easier to source tyres, but I quickly realized that there wouldn’t be enough room left for the motors.

It really depends where you are located. I wasn’t able to source any (decently priced) onewheel tyres in Europe, so I bought it from Craft & Ride in the US.

What the price of shipment To Europe?

I just got to college and I now have access to a Lathe so I might be interested in one of those aircraft wheels if you have any spares

Hello, after a lot of research on the internet, it is difficult for me to find this tire (11x5.50x6).
It’s a shame I already have all the 3D parts already printed.
If someone can give me a tip on how to find one that is not too expensive, I am interested.
thank you.

What’s your location. Are you in Europe, USA, Australia etc.

Hello,

I am in France, the link on EBAY looks good and cheap. The only downside is the delivery to France which i don’t do. I will try to contact the seller for delivery in France.

Hey guys,
I managed to build a DIY Onewheel but I do have some Problems.
I tried to calibrate the Gyro, while the Board leans back in starting position, so that I can only go forward.
Is this possible? I did not get it to work.

Maybe @Bionic24 can say something regarding my question.

Kind regards
Robin

you’re trying to make it only go one way? why?

If you wanted to make it only go forward, you could probably set a large deadband, centered while leaning backwards.

I can’t think of any reason that would be wanted – unless it’s not an electric vehicle that a human is riding.
