I felt like I didn’t have the acceleration I should have on dry gears. Then when I greased the new set of gears those seemed to deliver a fair bit more acceleration by feel even though they are the same teeth.
I think it’s a combination of tire size and small pinion. There’s a lot of forces going through the teeth due to the tire size. Stooge setups do run 12T and such but then they have a smaller tire so for the same acceleration they can just have more motor RPM and lower motor torque to achieve the same speeds. I am actually considering moving to mod2 later down the line.
I’m curious how mod 2 is gonna sound. Stooge gears are mod 1.5 and they already sounds pretty gnarly. My guess is mod 2 is gonna have an even deeper growl when accelerating.
Had a great first ride. Everything felt super stable to me but still very maneuverable. Huge thanks to @Titoxd1000 for solid trucks here.
Took things slow and didn’t push hard as I wanted to make sure I get a feel for the board and new geometry.
I started out at a pretty ridiculous psi of 45. Was quickly convinced to drop it. Went down to 25, figure I’ll drop it even more down to 15 for my next ride.
Only complaint is my MT12. I have no idea how to program it! Luckily I was given a solid starter profile for it, but would eventually like to adjust my acceleration curves, but it seems like a whole different world. To YouTube I go for tutorials.
Biggest consensus among others that rode was it needed to be longer. I think I’m going to ride it a bit longer before I change anything though. I’m overall very happy with the board.
Huge thanks to @Skyart for getting me up and running with solos and massive thanks to @dskate for helping me with all kinds of odds and ends along the way.
I can walk and bear weight on it.
So far as I can tell it’s good, just swollen. Nothing feels broken or torn.
Honestly my OOP is met, I really ought to get in to have it checked out. Most of me is just hoping that it’ll just get better with ice, rest, and elevation
Take it from someone that had surgery for a non esk8 related issue… go in and see the podiatrist asap… Delaying it can make it worse. Hopefully there isnt damage.
Bearing weight isn’t an indicator. That looks a lot like my ankle when I broke it. Mine was a nondisplaced fracture, which means no need to set it or do screws and rods or anything like that, but it still is a break. I got an X-ray that day, but they didn’t get back to me for a week, and it felt pretty okay after a couple of days, and I was walking around on it with pretty much just a compression sock, which I shouldn’t have. It turned out fine, but if I had lost my footing or something, I could have really messed it up.
Man that’s gnarly. I’m really hoping it’s just a sprain. I rolled it walking down the stairs, carrying my daughter. Luckily I, and even more importantly my daughter, didn’t tumble down the stairs. I managed to drop straight down.
Just hoping it can be a quick recovery, which means I should probably heed the advice here and get it checked out…
That looks familiar to me too. Broken ankle last summer (from soccer not esk8). Kept telling myself it was just a sprain and didn’t get it x-rayed until a week later. Mowed the lawn and did other stupid stuff I shouldn’t have. Non displaced fracture, so in a boot for several weeks. Smooth recovery and healed fully.
Another recommendation for getting it checked out. If there’s something wrong , you’ll be glad you did @Steuka
