Dive Bomber | a @Dinnye Inspired build

JK I agree it was never skateboarding, it’s electric skateboarding.

They look like they would be fun at low tide on some hard packed sand on a long beach.

I hear you. It’s definitely something else all together.
It’s not for everyone, heck, I’m not even sure if it’s for me yet.
The best thing about Esk8, in my opinion, is that there is something for everyone, from jump boards, to all terrain, full suspension, race boards, etc…

Also, I had to solder what I assume is a signal wire in the ESC, it got pinched and split when I was trying to put the ESC back together.

But that aside, I’ve finally got the battery bolted down and everything wired down.
I’ll be doing the maiden voyage either tomorrow (probably not as it’s Mothers Day) but for sure this week.
Then the real maiden in a week for I2S.

Well did a really short driveway test on sunday. Everything went really well. Tried to turn it on last night and ESC wont communicate with my remote. I tried re-pairing. Really peeved cause it’s probably going to put a damper on I2S…
I’m going to see how fast I can get @Skyart SKP Solo’s and a Z.mote

Dang, Z.mote is out of stock…
Anyone have stellar suggestions for other vesc trigger remotes?

I’ve got an extra mt12 right now and receiver you can use if you wanna borrow it till you get something.

Thank you! I may just have to take you up on that. I just ordered the Solos, so we will see if I can get it here and wired up on time.

Anyone know what my issue is here…?

Both wheels spin, but the one on the right of the video is laggy and seems slower

Is the backlash set correctly, so that the gears can’t bind up? Also that’s Solos right? VESC tool can be weird sometimes maybe just redo config from the beginning. If that doesn’t solve it I’d PM Artem for tips, he is pretty helpful. If you got them second hand then I’d also PM Artem just to check which FW is the currently recommended one.

Also before you start using it make sure to grease the gears, I just use some sort of spray on lithium grease. I found that I had pretty low acceleration on dry gears on the kart wheels, and went through a set of low quality motor pinions in less than one full track session. I was completely fine running dry gears on 150mm tires. Then swapped pinions, greased up the gears, and the acceleration seemed fine - I ended up crashing within 15 laps though and yet to ride the board since then, so just going by feel.

Since my crash I also don’t advise to stand below axle. You should catch up on my build thread before you ride it as it is - instead of a controllable wobble, a wobble becomes pretty much unsaveable and the primary suspect for what changed the behaviour during the wobble is reduced leverage from standing so far below axle :grimacing: Then you can make the judgement call if you want to try and experiment or raise ride height back to neutral like I’m planning.

If you have quality gears then it’s not rl necessary to grease them. Although yall are running rl big tires so idk.

Thank you.
I got the solos from Artem directly and have been talking with him, but so far to no avail.
He is an absolute saint and has walked me through every step so far.
I’m just trying to get it done before tomorrows I2S.

I’d say if nothing else just redo detection and settings and go for actual test ride. Free spin can be funky, sometimes it might better to test them underload.

Take the wheels off and see if the motors replicate the same delay on one side.

Are the remote calibration values mirrored to both sides of the controller?
