I am also looking forward to this as a new owner of a Demonseed 44
Nearly done the 4x4, demonseed will happen soon!
The mold is done, it just needs a little bit of touching up
@b264 @RyEnd there are heaps of bubbles in this mold
I’ll be investing in a vac setup very soon, so my plan is this;
- make an enclosure from this mold
- throw this mold in the bin
- tidy up the enclosure
- make a new mold from tidy enclosure.
- get vac infusion setup
- no more bubbles
Do you have a photo? How bad is it? I wouldn’t pitch the mold in the bin yet until there exists a new mold
These bubbles are super unfun to try and fix. And the mold is compromised… even if I do manage to repair them, past experience tells me that the repair won’t last.
Gonna be much easier to use this as is and follow the plan above.
So I ended up fixing the bubbles a little bit but I doubt the repairs will last this pull. Gelcoat on, gotta cut some glass now and then lay her up!
Trying for a finished enclosure straight out of the mold so made a nice thick gelcoat with more pigment than I usually use. Will probably add pigment to the layup epoxy too just in case.
Should have my demonseed enclosure in the morning!
Looks great!
Fuck yes! This has come up fucking perfectly
and the mold survived!
@bigben if you would be so kind, what is the best way to remove the mold release residue from the part without harming the gelcoat finish?
Looks mint
Nice one!
What mould release is it? If it’s PVA then warm soapy water.
Cheers bro! Honeywax
Wow, that is amazing
Go back in time and polish the honey wax off properly in the first place?
Might be in the gel so you could wet and dry and g3 paste to polish it out?
I mustn’t have my polishing routine right. Cheers bro
Wax on, wax off grasshopper.
Lol thats what I do! Just obviously not good enough
Lucky @glyphiks has his very own Mr Miyagi.
I have several
and I appreciate all of their time and wisdom immensely
