Budget helmets....I know I know

I know protecting your brain is not where to skimp, but considering I wrongly do 25mph now without one, a budget helmet is better then none right? Let put a cap on it at $150, I already know the favorite is the pass helmet but it’s not in the cards for me. Looking for full face.

Bonus points if any suggestions breath well, it’s hot here lol

That bell helmet doesn’t seem half bad… and considering a old school cap style bell helmet saved my life once… id consider it.

Another I’m considering

O’Neal 0623-055 3 Series Helmet (White, X-Large) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FGWX1FC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DulxDbYRM14TV

Are motorcross helmets thicker/heavier then downhill bike helmets? I would think they would be a bit beefier.

You can probably find one easily for that price. I use a motorcycle helmet. They’re sold here in Canadian tires for 100 bucks

I have a few motorcycle helmets on the shelf, but they are bulky and heavy and make my head sweat. I sold the bike a year or two back.

Bulky and heavy is much better than no longer having a head :stuck_out_tongue:

I go 24 to 44 mph depending on if downhill or not…I want to keep my brain in as much bulk and padding as possible

True, I don’t see above 25 currently, but at 25 I often think to myself wow this could get ugly if I take a spill right now lol

Even sub 20 falls hurt if you don’t land right

Yeah I’ve had one fall, it was wet, I rolled a corner in the parking lot on my way home from work and the board spiraled out from under me and I went down and slid, I tucked my elbows in and shielded my dome. Just a few scrapes, wet prob saved me a little since I slid. Fell playing hockey as a kid and tried to catch myself , ended up shattering my forearm, lesson learned.

I’ve been looking at these, using a Protec halfcut at the moment

Ohh yeah, I was eyeing that one, I saw it for 200 on amazon, thanks for the link, that’s moving to the top of the list.

These cheap Bern helmets have saved me from even a headache or bump after a couple bad hits. Worlds better than a typical bike helmet
