Boardnamics Precision 220mm Caliber II Hangers

Well we know you prefer bigger balls

How do you lock the axle into the two part hanger?

Is it positively retained or just kinda squeezed tight

The shaft and inside of the hanger would have a step somewhere in the middle to axially constrain it. Radially, it will have to rely on clamping force or 1 set screw. The shaft could have a ground smaller ID where the set screw could attach, or a hole for it to key into. That part is easy.

The clamping force on the ends can come from the precision clamps on the hanger (seeing as you can’t put screws there)

That’s pretty much what I was thinking cool.

These are the mountain board trucks kinda meant for split angle setup right?

That’s a neat idea!
Set of axles with kind of sandwiched hanger, so folks can experiment.

Looking forward for the design!

Hmm…sure is interesting lol I am not making this, just playing around

Uses a 10mm ballnose endmill to make the hole for the axle. Way way way cheaper and easier than boring it through the side.

Axle is held axially and radially with a dog setscrew

Look up jimZ speed hangars, they have the same clamp design, almost looks 95% like what you’ve got there. They work great and yes, solid through axle changing lengths easily :upside_down_face:

And yes, mmm I got a pair of those babies. The spherical bearing in them sucks.

I just saw those, they sure look cool. My gut tells me they will cost more than the regular 1 piece hanger. China is partying hard right now so I will know the numbers next week. Not like I am making these anytime soon :upside_down_face:

Now just make that two piece hanger a bit fatter.
Enough space for some cells and electronics…

And you’d have a jaykay truck XD

Diggin these hangers @Boardnamics!
Work great with Hammock baseplates and Caliber 2 clone baseplates.

I was setting this up for one of my kids…

And then rode it til the battery was dead.

They can try it tomorrow.

All I got is good news, these things feel good and stable as hell. I have the adjustable baseplate in the back at 15°, I think, and it feels amazing. On top of that, the riptide bushings are the best thing that happened. I’m not just saying this because Kevin is a friend. Tomorrow, I’m going to go jump some curves and see how they preform.
