Boardnamics M1 Gear Drive + Other News

I’m currently running 3ds mini with 1:2,6 and a 13s6p. With this setup my to speed is about 80km/h.

When applying BN gear ratio top speed is slightly lower topping out at 70 km/h.

Is this correct?

Will i gain some torque?

yes

Is there a boardnamics gear drive parts combination compatible with Kegel wheels on stooge NKP 3-link trucks?

I see the M1-AT GD option on the site for NKP hangers, but I’m considering using kegel wheels.

Not at the moment, no. Very specific case right there. Likely never going to be possible, it would require several custom components.

Been looking for Group GT3 hubs. Description says they mimic MBS bolt pattern so its safe to assume my wheel pulley i use for my rockstar 2’s fit well with them?

Why not solve the issues with helicals? I prefer their sound and ride feel.

Is there an issue with helicals that isn’t addressed by using 648?

Yeah so idk what’s the obsession with straight cuts, I already think my helicals are too loud. But to each their own

Is there room on the 184mm hanger for dual 6355s? If yes, front mount should have good clearance from the truck right?

6355s on 184mm hangers and M1 drives forward mounted didnt work for me. I used the adjustable baseplates and the motor cans would hit the baseplates when turning slightly if I didn’t have the baseplates set to like 15 degrees.

It would probably work if you ground down the baseplates. I didn’t try that. I think I remember @glyphiks doing that a one point though.

Bit more digging in this thread cleared it. With V2 drives, 184mm with fixed (BN?) plate will fit 2x6354.

I’ve done this with Maytech 6354s/184mm hangers/Paris V3 48/43 split with 2.2 gearing.
2.8 will work, but may have to shave the baseplate a hair.
I can’t confirm any other motor brand/baseplate combinations, but they “should” work.

Anyone knows how to get the bearing out of Boardnamics gear drive? I dont have extracter tools but im willing to pay for some if thats the only way to get rolling again ASAP

You could try heating up the aluminum. It expands faster than the steel bearing so that might make it loose enough to remove
