I had m1 reversed with 270 hangers. I suggest against it. There is only one angle you can have the gear drives set to without the motor hitting the baseplate when turning. That causes the motor to be very close to the ground and take some crazy abuse. Also to mention you need 2.20 gearing to reverse mount as the motor gear is bigger with 2.20 so the motor sits a bit further away from the hanger which allows just barley enough room to reverse. I was using 6374s so if you were using shorter motors you may not have to worry about hitting the kingpin when turning. Hope this makes sense
dang.
i guess i was tripping…
thought it was a thing that was doable.
i sure can;t roll with the 2.2 gearing…
do you have any close up pictures of the bottom?
Glad to see this response. The challenge with rear mounting these has more to do with how small M1 drives are (allowing them to run urethane, even under 100mm) versus hangar width. Motor can gets super close to the hangar once backlash is correctly set. The shape and angle of the hangar allows for more clearance when mounted inwards.
Everyone wants to go rearward like they do with belts, without understanding that urethane gear mounts need to be much smaller, while a belt drive mount’s length is practically limitless providing more clearance.
I’m wondering if reverse mounting will be easier with the newest generation of 270 hangers? Kevin sent me this screenshot:
It depends on that rising lip thats next to the “6354” of the motor which is the biggest factor in why u can currently reverse mount
Finally installed my M1 drives. The assembly is really easy and straightforward👍
There is a tiny bit of play between drives and boardnamics trucks. The drives rotate around the axle a tiny bit, a fraction of millimeter, I can feel it. Should I be worried? Loctite it? Or just leave it?
It’s fine as long as it feels solid when you have your axle nut fully tightened.
Yes, after tightening the nut it feels like there is no more play, thanks!
if Someone makes a alternate housing and adapter to use BN GD gears on Evolve trucks then there would not be the wheel nut holding the gd on.
my lil test ride after finally finishing my pack
usps slow ass making me wait dam near 2 extra days for my other gear box adapters preventing me from setting up my 4wd ugh fuck usps
I shipped something like 25 packages today. Finally got my “care package” in. It is already nearly depleted…
More on the way
V2 Adjustable baseplates also coming very soon.
Is there a bash guard for the standard idler motor mount?
Like these?
Yes that’s exactly what I was looking for, have the file available?
It should still be on my computer somewhere, I’ll have a look around once I’m home and post it here if it is.
I saw on the BN site there is a V2 coming out in September not sure if it’s for the M1 street GD or the AT’s, sorry if I missed what is was but can someone fill me in?
There’s a new generation of many of the parts on the horizon, small edits to the geometry of hangers and mounta at the very least (according to Instagram)
Left Bumper.ipt (146 KB)
Right Bumper.ipt (209.5 KB)
These should be it (the final iteration)
Awesome thanks!
Anybody mounted the new discovery cloudwheels on the m1 abec adapters?
