Generally you can still run tubes in them for other rims
Allegedly you use rim tape to solve this
I’m not sure it’s possible to mount the tire without separating the halves though since the lips are fairly large, and you can’t tape it if you have to separate it to get the tire on. You might be able to squish the tire to one side to access the seam, but I don’t think it’ll be doable with a stiffer tubeless tire.
I’m not confident that would work. Maybe with a pair of high quality cnced rims you might be able to make this work for brief periods of time but Id assume all split rims have some amount of small movement which causes the tape to shift. Which would cause air to then immediately flood out a gap and push the rim tape further off. It works on bikes cause you have one solid rim. Might be worth trying but im doubtful. Also how do you fill them and use a stem? You need a purposes built wheel like meepo has.
Now I’m even more confused… so the tire is sealed off separately from the wheel hub? Maybe im misunderstanding but it seems like the 2 answers contradict each other
Like an inner tube with a tire built onto it?
I guess? No idea man
Damn customer service using vague ass AI answers. Yuck.
I get the stiff sidewall/run flat thing (BKB tires are basically the same) but I don’t understand airing it up if you supposedly don’t need a tube on a split rim.
The Acedeck ones at least have a psi rating on the side so we know they’re inflatable somehow lol
This person either has a language barrier or has no idea what they are saying.
No I have the meepo ones, which are definitely tubeless, and use sealed rims
No idea what acedeck is attempting to say here lol
Btw I didn’t post this in relation to the acedeck conversation, although that is really interesting
What are people’s thoughts on the tire I posted? I’m thinking of trying it in infinityhubs or evolve GTR hubs
I think these will act like a really low pressure tire. Good for wagons or maybe mobility scooters.
Totally my opinion.
I asked Acedeck about their 180x65 tubeless tires and they said you need to use them with their rims to be tubeless. You can use them with MBS etc but you’d need to run an inner tube. So, another option other than Meepo for tubeless. They look better than Meepo IMO
I haven’t used hoyt tyres, but I’ve heard great things about them. Previously you had to buy their metal hubs, which were 300 usd, but they just announced some identical plastic ones as well. Hopefully less than 100usd for 4 hubs, but they haven’t put it on their website yet.
And kegel!
The Hoyt 5" plastic wheels as a complete set (4 tires tubes hubs and possibly the pullies) should be ~$250. Take the tire price out of that and you should have an estimate for rim price.
