Bergmeisters: Do I really need to go on a diet or why do I get flats?

I didn’t bother with these long. The tubes tore from normal use. They did ride pretty well. 6x2 would be way more reliable and fit on the same hub, they feel a litttle dead in comparison while carving imo, they absorb more of the bumps. worth it… metroboards are also another choice, pretty expensive though especially since you would need different wheels.

Yep, did 400 miles no issues. Switched to 6x2 with no issues.
Back to bergs and flat city. 2 of the 3 are my fault and I’ll own it.

yeah I’ve had my share of flats as well with Bergs. The first 3 were my fault for sure though - I was under inflating a good amount.

Ever since i started pumping the tires with a gauge, things have been smooth sailing. I think I’ve had one flat since then, so it definitely was the fix for me. Thank god @haggyboard.timo is the best vendor since sliced bread - even after I told him the flats were my issue he took care of me and sent replacement tubes no questions asked.

I will admit, there is no better vendor than timo. I figured the first 10 were probably because i had them under inflated. But even with a gauge, ive gotten at least 7 flats.

I feel your pain :sob:

Need a tool to change berg flats on the fly, what do people use that can reach the super recessed board-side screws through the the motor-mounts? If anyone has a tried and tested tool/s please link them

inject expanding foam into them?

If you’re still using the stock berg tires and tubes, you’re fighting a losing battle.

I’d get a flat Every. Other. Ride. on bergs.
The generic aliexpress 6x2s haven’t had a flat yet and ride just fine.

Doesn’t help your tool issue, but still very worth considering.

Ive not got a flat yet it’s just the screws for the wheel pulley disappear into the pulley, tightening those suckers is hard enough at home with a pair of pliers laawd knows hassle when out and about without the right tool… was just after a tool recommendation for reaching places other tools don’t

I’m trying to understand what you are talking about. I carry a hex key that fits and a mini 8mm wrench.

Also I’ve never experienced the flat issues that plague these wheels.

Don’t I have a photo of you, covered in tube slime, next to a flat berg? Maybe nude even?

I’ve only got a few hundred miles on my Bergmeister tires…but haven’t had a flat yet. They have grommets (not orings), around the valve stem hole, but I remember reading they’re generally fragile.

I’ve had good luck so far though…

That you do! One of two across three sets of tires. There was another that popped but it was due to the wheel being assembled with a foreign object in it. The kid hasn’t had a flat yet.

Only have had one pop with the 6x2’s through two sets of tires. The tire and tube spun on the rim and it ripped the valve stem out.

I wore out a set of Bergs completely without a flat discounting the first ride lol. First ride had them at 35PSI. Most of the time after that I kept them 50 to 60PSI but 90% of ride time was on road/paths.

My turn to rant about bergs.

I got 1 flat. ONE. I put slime, it oozed all the liquid stuff and left small fiber clumps, i patched it, but the tube must extend for so much it did fuck all, i put more slime (100% of the deflated volume is all slime) and fixed the patch, now it is slowly oozing that green stuff out of the hub seam, again. At this point i’m tempted to completely seal the hub and make it tubeless

Anyone got a source on replacement berg tubes shipping to USA? I was able to locate these guys but they only ship to Canada.

I have one spare tube left, and I won’t feel safe venturing out again once my last spare is in use :frowning:

Search on ebay 6x1.25
It’s a close fit but didn’t have issues while i used them
