Beginner Question Thread! 2023 Edition

Ok, Redetected with motor poles set to 20

both motors
motor current max 40.00
max brake -20.00
abs max current 42 one motor, 44 the other.
slow abs current limit true on both

If i roll into throttle slowly, acceleration almost normal, noise just a bit more than normaL at low speed, but quiet as f at higher.

If i jam throttle it barks and stutters and loses power.

Brakes weak, weaker than Puaida esc. Not acceptable.

Battery current max 15 each motor,(my 10s2p cells are rated 15 amps each)
max regen -10a each motor

Drv8301 set to current limit
drv8301 oc adjustment 16

I think the full throttle stuttering was due to a 36v battery(10s2p of 15 amp cells) and it was triggering the soft cut out.

Am charging, will experiment later.

Correct me if im wrong but shouldn’t it be 10 pole pairs if you have a 20 pole motor? Might be a part of the issue when jumping on the throttle as it would be cycling too fast for the physical motor to rotate and get out of sync

Will redo it at 10. this evening hopefully.

Gonna move desktop into garage workshop until it is dialed in, or the sledgehammer wins

Yep, this sounds very much like an incorrect pole pair # issue. Hopefully an easy fix.

I know that some of last night’s tests i had it set at 10, but likely missed setting both motors to 10 on the ‘additional info’ tab.

Wish I had a 90 or 45 degree micro usb cable, Id run it out the extra charge port.

There is evidence to suggest that the 100D is fine up to 100k erpm.

My question is-- has anyone had issues with the 100D at high erpm? e.g. 65-100k or so

My xiaoxang smart BMS won’t stop beeping and I don’t know why. 2s on 1s off for the sound. The board is setting in my basement partially taken apart for a repairr

Definitely not an expert here, but it does catch my eye that both temp sensors seem to be reading -30 degrees, could that be an inaccurate reading that may be causing warning stuff to go off?

I’ve been searching the internet and the forum to no avail, but does anyone know how to USB-C-mod the GT2B? I have some USB-C boards with a pinout to USB2.0 so +5v D+ D- and GND but the micro-b connector that charges the GT2B has a 3rd wire that I can’t figure out the trace for or what it does.

Was looking at the same thing, are the temp sensors disconnected? The jbd smart bms usually have an onboard sensor (don’t know the exact model you have) and disconnected it defaults to neg something for the remote sensors. My remote sensors show neg60 when disconnected so it’s a different calibration

Good morning,

I’m looking at building my first board and wondered if this was an appropriate place I could post my parts list for feedback?

you should make a build thread! & welcome to the community!

this is probably THE BEST PLACE EVER for esk8 on the entire internet.

What tec said, do a couple of the noob chores with the bot to prove to it you’re not spam and it unlocks your privileges. Do a couple quick searches for build threads and it will help get you the idea of how to format it and give you some ideas, just don’t get distracted by the boty threads - some really amazing builders.

Even if we argue a bit now and then everyone here is super knowledgeable and helpful. Welcome

I have NEVER heard a JBD bms beep before… i didnt know they were capable of it.

Are you sure its the bms beeping?

It stopped beeping. Idk why :crossed_fingers:. It’s always been at -30 iirc. I know it’s the BMS because I can momentarily pause it by rebooting from vbms app. Also it does a single short beep every single time I change a state in the app for years. Idk what jbd is but this is an “ANT” bms

Oh, you said xiaoxiang, which I automatically associated with JBD.

I only have very limited experience with ANT bms, have you tried looking at it with a different app?

I believe ANT is roughly the same as xiaoxiang but idk tbh. I haven’t tried another app but I guess I can try that in case the beeping comes back. Fingers crossed

Xiaoxiang/JBD are essentially the same entity.

ANT is a completely different manufacturer and the hardware/software used is not compatible with JBD stuff

Good to know. Thanks
