Beginner Question Thread! 2023 Edition

Bloody connector is too large. This DV6 uses tiny jst connectors. Think I might just solder them on…

Huh.
Receiver might have a black ended connector. You need a smaller white jst ended one to plug in.
I took a pic when I did it. Check it out.
You can get an adapter bit which is black on one end and white jst on the other, or cut black one off the receiver and crimp terminals for a jst of correct size

Yeah, same one I’ve got, just missing the connector cable. Off the top of your head do you know what spec the JST connector is before I go down that rabbit hole

If you mean onto the esc, that seems like a bad idea to me

It will say on the maker x page.
Or measure it
Or wait. Somone with a memory will know this

Jst-PH with 2.0mm pitch, kits and a crimp tool are cheap and the better option imho but you can just buy an adapter cable

Just had a look, they’re JST PH-2.0mm. not sure if pa was a typo on your side but just wanted to clarify

I’ve already got a PA-09 for my JST-XH connectors so should be fine for these too I’d imagine. Will just get the connectors and crimp myself. Thanks for the help both

That’s the way dude

Oof, bad typo, sorry. the black connector is just standard header pins btw, editing my original comment for posterity

Yeah, unfortuantely though the same headers don’t fit into the tiny JST :frowning:

A buddy of mine has a set so I’ve tested them a few times. They seem pretty nice. Everything is high quality and strong. He rides his trucks super tight so I can’t say much about functionality. I think you just need to take a bit to tune everything in and I don’t think you’ll have an issue. They are also very wide. Work good with pneumatics.

The only bad thing I can think of is that there aren’t a ton of mount angle options. Shouldn’t be too much of an issue cause they’re pretty tall and I don’t suspect any sort of motor bite would happen.

Personally I’d say that if you like tall trucks, then I’d get em. If not, I’d try to source some BN 270 hangars and adjustable baseplates with some precision mounts.

I’ve never even used a forum site so I’m a real noob here… but I just got a B-One Balrog X not too long ago, and noticed that when I don’t have the wheels on, the pulleys pop off their bearings if I rev the motors. Is that normal or are the belts too tight?

Post some pics and or video of the setup, others on here are more expert than me. Afaik loose is better for belts, you want to run it as loose as you can without slipping under load. Take your time and just set it then test then repeat until you have it dialed. Your belts and bearings will last longer and your efficiency will be better.

You should be able to push on the belt and get a few degrees of deflection, it should not be tight - snug is all it needs

Looking at new wheels for tynee mini 2.

I got hollow wheels, they are good on smooth pavement, better than clouds, ive notice great improvement. About 25% better, made my 20 mile trip no pain/numbness in feet/knees.

But my roads suck, and need more comfort for the road.

Im looking at abec 107mms, but they appear to be evole boards only?

I notice boa 100mm as well, but what belt size would I need for 37t pulley?

Other option is to stick with ingens, i have for my zeus pro, and they work great so far.

these

or these

fuck clearance if u want comfort

How are they for carving ?

I had clouds vebefore, and like 0 carve, compared to my ingens.

The new cloudwheels he just posted are completely different, I haven’t even seen them in person yet. They seem like they’ll be much better, similar to the exway hydro wheels, which are pretty nice

So I’ve been testing these motors. Not overheating like I expected, but severely speed limited. They have far more than enough torque though and I’m getting great range. The torque is actually dangerous if you don’t brace for it. I’ve wiped out at a standstill a few times now because I wasn’t ready for the board flying out frum under me.

For reference:

The sound of my gear drives is really clicky and I’m not sure what the reason is: anyone got ideas? Or is this a normal gear drive noise? I added a video of my backlash too just in case that would help.
