Can you take them to small claims court?
I can, but really hoping to avoid such an escalation.
Complete silence from them though, so I’m guessing they know exactly what they did and are expecting me to just go away. Heh.
I’d give it till after the first and maybe even the second for hangover recovery, but yeah…
Keep us posted.
I should clarify, this happened almost 2 weeks ago at this point and they’ve not responded since. They are open for business and sending out marketing emails, so no excuse.
Oh I know man, I just figure they’ll use the holidays as an excuse regardless, which they wont have after the 2nd or so of the New Year.
Have you tried calling them btw? If you mentioned previously, apologies, but if not, maybe persistent phone harassment will yield some interaction? (Their number is supposedly: 215-383-9009 )
I have, three times now. They don’t pick up their phone and their voicemail is full and/or transfers to an invalid service.
Total radio silence from them on this, no response to 5 emails now. They are definitely open & sending out marketing emails + answering other customers on social media, so I have to assume they’re actively avoiding me and just hoping I’ll go away.
I don’t plan on it.
Saw that! Seems like a pain to extract the cells…and how true is that 10amp rating?
Maybe we should just buy from other sources, only bought from them once for a value of about 700USD.
They fumbled with the curier, messed up customs declerations, so my package got sent back to the US not once but two times. (yay environment?)
Took nearly 6 months to arrive. In the end I got everything I ordered but it took alot of effort from my side to even figure out what was going on.
Yeah, unfortunately all the other sources have similar problems. We’ve already had bad interactions with BCH, and BB seems to be trying to focus on prebuilt modules at high margins.
Ultimately, they’re all just basically scrappers, that realized there’s a secondary market for cells they likely got paid to recycle.
Maybe one of us needs to figure out how to start a battery recycling operation, reap the rewards of being battery rich forever and make a few bucks extra offering the better cells to the community? Trust me, I’ve thought about it.
1350 sqft garage sounds like a good spot for that, unfortunately being in the Dakota’s makes shipping a nightmare from literally anywhere the batteries are usually sourced from. Believe me I’ve thought about it too.
Same prob here, I’m in Appalachia, and moving soon to my cabin that’s hours from a major shipping hub, impossible for semis or other large trucks to get in and out, and little desire to live in a city, otherwise I’d be all over it.
3 weeks have passed since I made this post.
I’ve emailed them politely & weekly asking for follow-up, and have been met without a single reply. I’ve called multiple times, no answer, no message machine. They’ve ignored any contact through social media.
Safe to say these guys are shady as fuck.
Hop on a plane and punch them in the face?
You can throw one from me as well
Who’s the closest member to Philly?
Time to start beating this drum harder
Looking at their Facebook page out looks like I’m not the only one having issues getting these guys to respond.
Does the community think this warrants enough of an issue to maybe edit the thread title with a scam warning?

Hm I wonder if it warrants that yet
Definitely worth backing off purchasing there though since we have so many other places to buy from. Battery clearing house for examples has some similar stuff and has been decent in the past
i got 2000 of the a123 26650 cells and they tested showing 3ah each and all voltages matched. i think in two tests i saw a123 cells seem to come brand new with a bit more than even 3ah which I’ve never seen happen with other cells
besides feeling batteryhook up is amazing for getting me such a great deal (always checking this thread) i find these cells great for working with knowing im going to mess up somehow and likely short something huge. and i did, if you didnt see the pic it was pretty cool how i put a nickel strip by mistake shorting 36 cells and it stuck there sizzling and i swatted at it and it was stuck (cut myself). and it shorted through quickly. someone with good math could say exactly how much current at how long for my .2mm x 8mm strip before a slit vaporized across it and all charred, i dont know. one of many dumb things ive done. i laid my battery on a 3"x4" sheet of .2mm copper and it largely vaporized. the battery blasts through everything it touches so quickly its safer. but it does grab onto it and weld itself to it first worth knowing. luckily i only have thinner stuff around.
ive tried to get them to catch on fire electrically as best i can when the cells are solo or in pairs but i imagine shorting a big battery with many cells and depending where it shorted in the pack it could create varying amount of current in different cells and i think safe to say you could get any type of cell to burn if it’s hooked up with enough other cells around it shorting through it. @Battery_Mooch ?
So it looks a negative review on their Facebook page sprung them into action:
(Edited out CS reps name as he’s using his personal account to respond)
Can’t say that them resolving this 6 months later after totally ghosting for months is awesome, but I’m glad to get this resolved. FWIW: I did already receive refund notification as well.
Still doesn’t change my vote here, I won’t be doing business with them again.
I would urge you to not try to get a cell to catch on fire.
Even if the cell doesn’t burst and/or catch on fire the smoke and vapors are incredibly harmful and any residue left on or around the cell is toxic.
Any li-ion cell can be forced into thermal runaway if the conditions are right but how violent that event is depends on a lot of different things. Some cells will just open their venting disk and release some toxic smoke and vapors for a while. Some cells can explode the top off the cell in a large fireball and eject flaming materials. If there are other cells nearby all that heat can force them into runaway too…verrrrry bad.
Basically, we should do whatever we can to prevent a cell from going into thermal runaway. It’s almost always from misuse or mishandling but there is the very rare defective cell.
